Oh Joyous Occasion of Joyous Occasions

Thanks to Mrs. TZ, my abilities to critically analyze the NBA just got better:

No, I didn't get a new brain - I got TiVo, baby! I'll probably spend the greater part of the evening figuring out how to work it, all so I can record the Kings game I'll probably be watching. In the next few weeks, I hope to look at some things given my new rewind-fast forward capabilities - things like defensive box scores, potential assists, screens-leading-to-baskets .. that sort of thing.

Some tips.
TiVo is better than color TV. No lie. Hint - to record all Kings games, use a Wishlist: Sports-->Basketball and Kings Also, when the same show is on two channels, (like Kings games sometimes are) TiVo will record it on the lower channel. Make sure to check a day or two before so you get the right channel (so you don't record it on ESPN - where they sometimes decide to cut to another game in the third quarter).

Thanks Carl!
Appreciate the tips. Got a suggestion for setting up a Season Pass for NBA Fastbreak without it trying to record both the evening and morning editions? (Apparently, ESPN doesn't list the 9 a.m. edition as a rerun. But the evening version doesn't run the same time every day). I know the best suggestion you could give is "Don't watch Fastbreak." But I'm a junkie.

Life just got better
Frankly, I don't know how you did such an amazing job with this blog without TiVo, it's the only way I could do mine. But you'll find yourself rewinding too much just to see how many guys Iverson blew past on the way to the uncontested layup, then making yourself sick. I know I do.

Yikes
Except with the Kings, you don't have to wait for Iverson to come to town. Any old point guard - Juan Dixon, Luke Ridnour, Raymond Felton - will get some highlight reel drives against Sacramento.

I was most amazed at how fast I ended up getting through the game last night. I didn't actually start watching until 8, even though it started at 7. Commercials, dead balls, free throws, 20-second timeouts - skipped past it all. It was marvelous. And I caught up to watch the last 6 minutes in real time. Sadly, there was little drama.
