The next Bibby?

Bibby's not getting any younger. Ronnie Price and Jason Hart don't seem like they can be decent substitutes, let alone replace him. Quincy Douby is a complete unknown to me; I wonder how he'll perform this year?

Personally I feel like the Kigns are going to have to find a decent free agent in a few years if they want to stay competitive. Who do you think that can be?

Re: The next Bibby?
Bibby was drafted by the Grizz in 1998, and we got the young man in a trade. It's possible that there is a Bibby replacement out there waiting to be drafted in a few years' time. That's where I would look (to college and the high school level).

Re: The next Bibby?
Bibby takes good care of himself and he is durable.  He could be a solid peformer for several more years. My greatest fear is that he may want to opt out of his contract after this season.

Re: The next Bibby?
Silverace99, you've hit on something.

I think one reason there's so much back-up at the point is because geoff petrie hasn't decided yet who the heir to Mike Bibby is...

Not to disagree with the previous 2 comments, but I'd like to add:

1)I'd like to see what Cisko can do at the point.he has D.C. qualities I still think can be developed.

2)&I'd like to see more action from Ronnie Price & Quincy Douby; to see if they are  unpolished stones in the rough that we allready have.

Bibby's gone after this season
Bibby will definitely opt out of his contract after this season, and the Kings will definately not pay him as much as some other team will. That means that the Kings have 2 areas to focus on; point guard and center (by the way, if anyone sees Brad Miller, please report the sighting to the Sacramento Kings organization; he has been missing for about 2 years now). Obviously Ronnie Price/Jason Hart aren't gonna get it done on a full-time basis. I say the Kings package Bibby (and his option), BMill, and some other player to address one of these areas specifically (either an effective big man or an established ball handler/point guard), and then suck it up and pay someone in free agency to address the other position (it helps that the contracts of hart, potapenko, and corliss - a combined $40 million) are coming off the books. With these 2 moves the Kings will have addressed their primary issues while retaining a core including KMart, Francisco, Reef, KT, Artest, Salmons, and Price (if they renew his contract).
