GAME 25 - at Denver

I'm going to dispense with the usual stuff, because everything about this game is in flux.

We know that Marcus Camby is out and Ron Artest probably isn't even in Colorado. Allen Iverson is still a tossup - no one has reported on whether Andre Miller made it to Pennsylvania. (And honestly, the Sixers don't need him until Saturday. I'm not sure they break their ass getting him ready just to help out Denver.)

I have no idea how it's going to end up. I can't imagine the team flight was pleasant in any circumstances, with or without Ron-Ron. That was a tough loss, a crazy situation with the starting lineup, and honestly, they flew early this morning to freezing ass Denver. I wouldn't be thrilled, either.

This team is broken, and a weird game in Denver three days before Christmas isn't going to change anything. Mostly, I'm looking forward to see if anything comes down in the way of further mischemistry. As we saw in Philly, New York, and Boston last season, you can't predict these games.

Anyways, it's the last game til Christmas, so happy Christmas! I'll likely post off and on over the long weekend, and I'll be back in full force Tuesday for sure. Enjoy the game (if you can), and stay safe!

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
  1. I read somewhere that Denver was chartering a plane to ship out Miller but I can't find the link. Karl is seeking the anti-Viagra as we speak just thinking about starting Mr. Iverson tonight.

  2. I have a hangnail that kinda hurts a little bit. Been bothering me for weeks. Indulge me, TZ, and cough up the Starters list and a haiku or I shall pout on the couch.

  3. There will be no Carmelo magazines on the flight. Maybe the guys will relax by bashing Ron behind his back instead of reading. Love the chemistry. Team-building 101.

  4. A five-spot says Grant owns and wears a fur lined hat like a Russian soldier. Another fiver says Jerry owns and wears a snowboarder hat with bright purple faux dreadlocks.

  5. The Kings will win tonight and then celebrate by making very tall snow angels and write their names in the snow before they exchange Secret Santa gifts. The Chia Bibby will be a huge hit.

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
For those paying attention, the Kings WIN!

(the first quarter)

They are up 26-24 after one frame.

Salmons, the Kings new offensive force, has 12. Miller has 10. Everybody else combined for four.

One more thing: Iverson IS playing. Doesn't look as if he started the game.

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
You are correct.  AI came off the bench.  He checked in late 1st quarter just as I tuned in.

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
And for those on the Kenny Thomas watch, the equation holds true tonight as well.

Thus far...
Points (0) + Rebounds (1) - TO (1) - PF (1) = 0 or less.

The man is an ugly stat machine.

Garcia, Taylor and Douby are all on the floor. Interesting.

KT still riding the pine. Yahoo! says he made his mess in a single minute's worth.

Ugh.  The gold jerseys are hurting my eyes.
(I didn't know they'd be back this season)

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
This is infuriating!!
It was a 15 point lead with a min+, and it's down to 7 at halftime.  Costly turnovers, silly fouls, and getting beat on the offensive glass.

What else is new?

This game is too close for comfort
AI and Boykins has got to be the smallest backcourt ever!

Woot! Where is the defense on both sides of the floor?

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
Why the hell did we just stop playing defense? I can understand not wanting to foul but giving them free layups? c'mon

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
I guess someone told Salmons that Hollinger called him the 5th worst free agent signing of the offseason.

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
I guess Hollinger has never seen Salmons play. The fact that 3 teams were after him - suns, raptors and us - means he can play. Good pick-up guys. Ron who?

Triple-Double tonight for Salmons... WOW

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
John Salmons had a triple double.

Brad Miller had a good game for the 2nd consecutive game.

Maybe things are looking up?  Muss has discovered that Salmons can create for himself and others and decided to just let him run things?

Honestly, if the Kings could trade Bibby for either cap space and a pick, or a big man and a pick, I'd take it.  Salmons and Martin clearly are capable of handling things in the backcourt.

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
Again I ask, why Bibby? Salmons is a good ba;; handler but he can't play point for the entire game. Salmons is a SF, Kev is a SG, Mike is our PG. So who is the odd man out? If we trade Mike for cap space, who would be our starting PG?

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
None of them can shoot consistently from the outside (cisco isn't that comfortable yet)
I know Mike is playing like crap but he did have a lot of assists in this game. He just needs to be motivated.

Does anybody think either Cisco or Price could start at PG? I don't, I'd rather have Salmons start

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
I absolutely think that Garcia could start at PG. Price is an effective back up for now. I like the thought of players that cause match up problems for the opponent, and I think Cisco's size is a match up problem for most PG in the league.

Tall snow angels! Names in the snow! Check it out Sports Center...the Kings played too and Salmons was our Answer. He gets the Chia Bibby.

Very cool night. I LOVE our win but I also loved seeing Denver's love for AI. Amazing. The guy can stumble into town, meet his teammates and put up a game like he did. Clone him!

Re: GAME 25 - at Denver
Bibby is still finding ways to lower his shooting percentage, but at least he is not over-shooting anymore, and he is averaging about 8 assists over his last 4 games.  Aside from the poor shooting and defense and leadership and decision-making (boy, that's a long list), the most disappointing thing about Bibby's season is that he is averaging fewer assists than Allen Iverson and Gilbert Arenas, two of the higest scorers and biggest chuckers in the league.  Heck, his assist average is barely higher than Kobe's!  I recall when we traded J-Will for Bibby, we were supposed to be getting a point guard who would run the offense instead of firing up wild shots.  Now J-Will has become that guy and Mike has become the out-of-control chucker.  If Mike returns to the pass-first point guard we were promised when we traded for him in the first place, this team could go on a nice little streak.  The next two months will be the most important stretch for this team, because the schedule from late February/early March to the end of the season is incredibly brutal - it makes this last stretch of games look like a cakewalk.  We get a nice soft patch in the schedule in January and February, so they desperately need to start piling up some wins.  The win last night was a great start, even if the Nuggets were playing without 3 of their 4 best players.
Freakin' Kings.
