Assistant Coaches, The Big Ticket, and SERGIO!
The Bee reports that Eric Musselman will name his coaching staff in the next couple days. Marty McNeal, assumedly filling in for the vacationing Sam Amick, reports the two names we reported last week, and adds in Jason Lamm from Memphis. McNeal also says T.R. Dunn, an Adelman-era assistant, is a possibility.
Geoff Petrie also addresses the Kevin Garnett rumors, saying whoever started them "must be a fiction lover." This doesn't surprise me - and it really shouldn't surprise anyone. The most interesting thing about this is that it means Marty McNeal reads the internet! I always took him as an old-school guy. But this rumor hasn't appeared anywhere but DraftExpress and some of the bigger hoopsblogs. So I'm pretty sure McNeal had to get it from the internet! How about that...
In other news, UCLA point guard Jordan Farmar will stay in the draft. It's widely believed Petrie will take a long look at the long, defensive-minded Farmar if he's still around at #19. (It's also widely believed that Farmar will be around there - DraftExpress's latest mock draft has the Bruin going to Memphis at #24.)
Also staying in the draft is Sergio Rodriguez, the 20-year-old phenom point guard from Spain. If you've yet to see any Sergio highlights, check out all the YouTube clips. He is the Geoff Petrie point guard, which makes this pick make all the more sense. (For what it's worth, both DraftExpress and Chad Ford currently have the Kings drafting Sergio. This makes me smile.)

We defenitely do need a backup point guard. Heard anything about BJAX lately?

Sergio
But even taking into account the two insightful comments above, those Sergio Rodriguez highlights are pretty spectacular. Reminds ya a little of J-Will, minus the off-balance 26 foot jump shot.
He does look a little like
Wouldn't kick Rodriguez out of the Arco barn, however; love to see some true point talent & a new fresh big like Sene.
I can also see B-Jax coming back too from the Grizz, would that change the equation in regards to drafting new point-guard talent?
Actually...
Even one new point guard coming in is pushing it, so unless Hart can be unloaded, there's no way a free agent PG and a draft pick are coming in. This is another reasons I'm sold on Sene: a stopgap back-up at PG is easier to find in cheap free agency than some rebounding/shotblocking help up front.

Re: Assistant Coaches, The Big Ticket, and SERGIO!
& I gotta have Sene, of future shot-blox a plenty,
(no way, that talent going to the Lakers at 21 or whatever. Get rid of our jelly-donut action in the low post).
No room then for another p.g.Is Farmar or Rodriguez better for the Kings than Price or Hart?Who should we keep?Who is the heir to Mike Bibby?
Or maybe make no change & also develop the Cisko Kid at point.I like his D.C. length.
questions questions
but the highlight does not really show how good he is defensively
and the JWill comparison kinda scares me
If we're going to draft a guard, I'd rather have Farmar
the question is whether we'd be better off with farmar or sene. I like sene but how raw is he? and would Farmar make cisco redundant (can cisco play 1)?

Re: questions questions
The problem is that if you didn't resign Bonzi (I'm almost assuming this now), Garcia is depended on to back up Artest and Martin. That's fine - Garcia can play 20-30 minutes per game. But he can't consistently give MB10 a breather, too. If he did, Bibby and either Artest or Martin won't be in together much. And Bibby needs those offensive-minded guys to take the pressure off.
This could be solved if Monia is ready to play 10-15 minutes a game, or if another backup swing comes in. Also, Corliss could likely take SF minutes, but who knows how many at this point.
