When you first learned of Elton Brand's ruptured Achilles back in August you posted that it was a toss up between the Kings and Clippers for worst in the Pacific.
One of the reasons you gave was that "Draft pick Al Thornton hasn't gotten the best reviews as of yet."
Since then, the exact opposite is true of Thornton - he is getting the best reviews - while the Kings draft pick had knee surgery, and contemplated the dreaded micro-fracture.
Now, in the Festivus, you're picking the Clippers behind the Kings with a mere 32 wins. Actually, 32 wins is not really that out of line for the Clippers. But 35 for the Kings? They only won 33 last year. How exactly are they better?
Why are you even less optimistic about the Clippers now than when you first knew Brand was injured? Aren't you just being influenced by all the other Clipper-bashing out there?
And it's a miracle if "The Clippers sniff the playoffs?" Really? If the Clippers finish ahead of the Kings, Lakers and Hornets (the teams you pick ahead of them by record), it's a miracle?
Don't get me wrong. The Clippers have issues. But they have a couple of things to be optimistic about, like Thornton and the possibility of an early return for Brand. (I can hope.) What are you optimistic about? A new Brad Miller hair do?
I feel a bet coming on. Justify yourself young man.
