I am not going to watch that game.
I didn't flip on the sweet sounds of Gary Gerould until the fourth. No LeBron, Kings down 23. Something tells me I didn't miss much.
Losses usually give just as much to analyze as wins, if not more. Still, I can't do it. I refuse to subject myself to two hours of getting blown out by a D-League team.
Unless the Kings go on a 10-win streak, I think the Musselman era is coming to a close. The Maloofs can't handle this. I think the team itself is causing more problems than the coach, though the lines blur every time this squad can't compete with clearly inferior competition.
Where's that fork? Oh, in Slamson's back. I see it now.

IMO, the Maloofs aren't going to spend like Micky Arison, Mark Cuban or Ben Maller.
Saving bucks were factors (not the only ones) in parting with Peja, C Webb, and Adelman.
The Kings have chosen to go with a roster under the limit of l5 for most of the season (now at l3)--JUST TO SAVE MONEY. We could have had Louis
Amundson.

I mentioned Amundson because he was (maybe still is) a favorite of the Maloofs and there was $$$ under the luxury tax cap to sign him AND THERE WAS NO WAY THEY WERE GOING TO EXCEED THE CAP TO HIRE A BETTER PLAYER.

Let's face it, all the years of building on the fly have caught up to this franchise. This is the cyclical nature of the NBA. This team just isn't very good, but there are still some parts to build around, but they need an influx of new talent.
While I think the Maloofs, Petrie, Musselman and the players are ripe for criticism for this year's performance, I also never thought I'd see eight straight playoff teams in Sacramento. I think the Maloofs and Petrie deserve the benefit of the doubt at this point...Musselman obviously less so.

pookeyguru, seriously - you seem to default to quantity over quality. If you find a bit of balance, maybe you and I can have a substantive discussion about the Kings.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
Almost all owners learn they dont know much or @ least anything compared to their basketball ppl anyway. Then they get out of the way. The maloofs may care but it doesnt mean they know the right way to go about building a winning basketball team. They were lucky that Jim Thomas gave the go ahead cuz he knew they were willing to spend some money. Spending money is nice when youre the owners & i give them credit for willing to spend money. But spending money & spending money wisely are 2 different things. Overall i dont think they've spent their money wisely. It's my personal opinion. I also think they dont have particularily good priorities when it comes to basketball. I'm not sure they get it quite yet. I didnt say they were hopeless i just said they were bad. This is true of michael heisley too. But i could give a shit about the grizzlies & heisley's crybaby billionaire ass. Especially when he crys about having problems.
Re: I am not going to watch that game.
I recall we were all/mostly predicting a couple of days ago that this game was a loss anyway. Right? I could point out everything wrong with the Cav's game, the Denver game or the team as a whole but you all know the skinny. I guess we, as fans, have two options at this point.
One, nobody is going to blame you if you quietly bail on the team. If you do, you we won't stop to pick you up in Dallas. You're dead to me! Kidding...good luck. : )
Two, you can recline the seat back and pass the Cheetos because the ride isn't going to all of a sudden transform from a Pinto into a Porsche. One trade wasn't gonna do it. A nice draft pick isn't gonna do it either. As long as "Sacramento" preceeds "Kings" I call shotgun. Of course, I hope Muss won't be driving next season but if he is I will have a roll bar installed over my couch.
I found a little diversion for you all. Enjoy.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
I'll keep watching - hell, I'll probably end up watching the Cleveland at some point. When you see an opening like "LeBron Jame - DNP" and your team is in a fierce playoff chase and you lose the second half by 20? That is infuriating.
Re: I am not going to watch that game.
I was soapboxing to every infuriated and/or depressed King's fan and just trying to remind myself that this too shall pass.

Actually, I only occasionally read your posts - and usually only the short ones - because they make me feel like I have ADD.
How about eight straight playoff appearances since they acquired primary ownership in a city that had what, 2 playoff appearances in their prior history?
Or was that strictly Petrie's achievement?
I have a feeling most cities would love to have those kind of horrible owners.
Re: I am not going to watch that game.
This begs the question what does being in the playoffs 8 years running have much to do with onwership?
Re: I am not going to watch that game.
Under our new ownership, we've made the playoffs eight years running.
Oh, I forgot, the Maloofs only get the blame for the bad things that happen, not the credit for the good things.

You evidently have a self-awareness issue.
My criticisms of your postings have plenty of merit. Any time you and I disagree, I feel that much better about my opinion.
Also, I have disagreements with plenty of people here (ask anyone, they'll tell you!), but I respect their opinions a bit more since they actually watch NBA basketball occasionally.
