I am not going to watch that game.

I didn't flip on the sweet sounds of Gary Gerould until the fourth. No LeBron, Kings down 23. Something tells me I didn't miss much.

Losses usually give just as much to analyze as wins, if not more. Still, I can't do it. I refuse to subject myself to two hours of getting blown out by a D-League team.

Unless the Kings go on a 10-win streak, I think the Musselman era is coming to a close. The Maloofs can't handle this. I think the team itself is causing more problems than the coach, though the lines blur every time this squad can't compete with clearly inferior competition.

Where's that fork? Oh, in Slamson's back. I see it now.

No offense TZ but i think its now time to discuss the maloof's poor ownership starting with the musselman hire. But not today im too flat out disgusted @ this group on the floor. They are better than this effort period end of story. Im thankful i didnt watch a single min of it. Maybe i should jump on the raptors bandwagon after all.....

As a long time (and long suffering) Raider fan, I think it fruitless to discuss poor ownership.  They own the damn team.  There's no getting rid of them.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
What is there to say about the Maloofs? Even if they wanted Artest, It's their team. Live with it.   They're paying on the luxury tax threshold wanting this team to win. There is no doubt they are committed.

You are correct it is their team. They want to run it into the ground thats their business.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
The Kings are under the luxury cap.  (Cap - $65.2 Mil, Kings $63.589 Mil.)

IMO, the Maloofs aren't going to spend like Micky Arison, Mark Cuban or Ben Maller.

Saving bucks were factors (not the only ones) in parting with Peja, C Webb, and Adelman.

The Kings have chosen to go with a roster under the limit of l5 for most of the season (now at l3)--JUST TO SAVE MONEY. We could have had Louis
Amundson.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
I'm just curious what Amundson would bring to this team. He was passed up by every team in this league on draft day, and hasn't been able to get more than three minutes of mopup duty with Philly during his 10-day.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
Otis, I agree.  Post #73 Oct. 24, as referenced above, pretty much sums up my view of Amundson's potential.

I mentioned Amundson because he was (maybe still is) a favorite of the Maloofs and there was $$$ under the luxury tax cap to sign him AND THERE WAS NO WAY THEY WERE GOING TO EXCEED THE CAP TO HIRE A BETTER PLAYER.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
How are they running this team into the ground? I just don't see that. Call me blind, idiot or whatever. But to condemn the owners for spending millions of dollars building a roster and claiming they're running it into the ground is completely ridiculous and also total bullshit. They are well respected owners that have millions of dollars invested into this business and I believe them when they say they want to do every damn thing possible to bring a championship to the city of Sacramento.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
pookeyguru admits to not really watching the NBA anyways, so I'm not sure there's any point getting upset with him/her, or taking him/her seriously.

Let's face it, all the years of building on the fly have caught up to this franchise. This is the cyclical nature of the NBA. This team just isn't very good, but there are still some parts to build around, but they need an influx of new talent.

While I think the Maloofs, Petrie, Musselman and the players are ripe for criticism for this year's performance, I also never thought I'd see eight straight playoff teams in Sacramento. I think the Maloofs and Petrie deserve the benefit of the doubt at this point...Musselman obviously less so.

Ive admitted to not watching the nba THIS season very much. In past seasons i watched games every day. It's really cute that you call me a transvestite otis. I'm impressed with the great amount of knowledge you dropped too. The cylical nature of the nba. Way to go ace you really hit a home run on that analysis.

pookeyguru, seriously - you seem to default to quantity over quality. If you find a bit of balance, maybe you and I can have a substantive discussion about the Kings.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
Let's face it this team blows and should have decided to tank the season for a high lottery pick. I thought they were a year behind last year when they went out and got for Artest, that was like trying to slap a bandaid on your problems. This team needs major surgery in the personnel on this roster, not trying go all out and grab an 8th spot when they perhaps could have dealt Stojakovic for some young players and picks instead of Ron Artest.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
First off they arent paying luxury tax. They're a couple million under the threshold unless they have more salary im not aware of(63 1/2 mil or so). Secondly i didnt say they werent committed or didnt care. I said they're 'bad' owners. Gregg Lukenbill was a bad owner too. At least initially anyway. It takes owners time when they divest energy into a business like the NBA to actually learn it.

Almost all owners learn they dont know much or @ least anything compared to their basketball ppl anyway. Then they get out of the way. The maloofs may care but it doesnt mean they know the right way to go about building a winning basketball team. They were lucky that  Jim Thomas gave the go ahead cuz he knew they were willing to spend some money. Spending money is nice when youre the owners & i give them credit for willing to spend money. But spending money & spending money wisely are 2 different things. Overall i dont think they've spent their money wisely. It's my personal opinion. I also think they dont have particularily good priorities when it comes to basketball. I'm not sure they get it quite yet. I didnt say they were hopeless i just said they were bad. This is true of michael heisley too. But i could give a shit about the grizzlies & heisley's crybaby billionaire ass. Especially when he crys about having problems.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
Wow guys. I guess I will stay and turn off the lights.

I recall we were all/mostly predicting a couple of days ago that this game was a loss anyway. Right? I could point out everything wrong with the Cav's game, the Denver game or the team as a whole but you all know the skinny. I guess we, as fans, have two options at this point.

One, nobody is going to blame you if you quietly bail on the team. If you do, you we won't stop to pick you up in Dallas. You're dead to me! Kidding...good luck. : )

Two, you can recline the seat back and pass the Cheetos because the ride isn't going to all of a sudden transform from a Pinto into a Porsche. One trade wasn't gonna do it. A nice draft pick isn't gonna do it either. As long as "Sacramento" preceeds "Kings" I call shotgun. Of course, I hope Muss won't be driving next season but if he is I will have a roll bar installed over my couch.

I found a little diversion for you all. Enjoy.

I haven't given up on the Sacramento Kings. I've given up on this edition.

I'll keep watching - hell, I'll probably end up watching the Cleveland at some point. When you see an opening like "LeBron Jame - DNP" and your team is in a fierce playoff chase and you lose the second half by 20? That is infuriating.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
This team has been terrible before & its likely they'll be terrible again. Very few teams stay playoff status forever. Geoff Petrie has hit home runs before & im confident he can hit another 1. The question is will his judgment or the maloofs prevail?

In reference to quality over quantity i agree & have said as much. You must have missed my post where i said that. If you dont agree with my statement oh friggin well. I have yet to hear a real reason why the maloofs are good owners for instance. I would like to get into that debate.

Actually, I only occasionally read your posts - and usually only the short ones - because they make me feel like I have ADD.
I have yet to hear a real reason why the maloofs are good owners for instance.

How about eight straight playoff appearances since they acquired primary ownership in a city that had what, 2 playoff appearances in their prior history?

Or was that strictly Petrie's achievement?

I have a feeling most cities would love to have those kind of horrible owners.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
Well how about the fact that the core of those teams (stojakovic webber williams divac) were all acquired with thomas' approval not the maloofs. And adelman didnt have anything to do with them being in the playoffs 8 years running either?

This begs the question what does being in the playoffs 8 years running have much to do with onwership?

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
You don't think that's cause and effect? Under our old ownership, we were happy breaking .500 at home and getting 30 wins a year.

Under our new ownership, we've made the playoffs eight years running.

Oh, I forgot, the Maloofs only get the blame for the bad things that happen, not the credit for the good things.

Re: I am not going to watch that game.
I dont think that qualifies as clear cut better ownership. Just more willingness to spend. Which i give credit to the maloofs for. Yet again you mis understood my point then try to over-exaggerate why its wrong with a glib round-about answer. Id be happy to write a list of what they did that was right and wrong. You would disagree (i dont care that you disagree) but who cares? Isnt that the point?

You evidently have a self-awareness issue.

My criticisms of your postings have plenty of merit. Any time you and I disagree, I feel that much better about my opinion.

Also, I have disagreements with plenty of people here (ask anyone, they'll tell you!), but I respect their opinions a bit more since they actually watch NBA basketball occasionally.

I think my opinion has merit too. So fucking what? I just wish @ some point otis you would realize you give very little reason for what you claim. If for good measure you feel im the same way point out what you think i havent expanded on enough. I will then expand on it.

I'm sorry my opinion of not watching a group that cant rebound cant play defense or score isnt good enough for you. I might have to watch the game so i can see they dont rebound or jump high or run fast or anything else. Wow what insight that leads to.
