Danny Ainge/First Draft Pick

Durant or Oden?

Star-divide

I am from Sacramento, but I'm currently a student at BYU. I attended BYU's last regular season home game in which they won the regular season title (don't worry, I'm not a Cougars fan). Anyway, Danny Ainge and Mrs. Ainge were there watching their son Austin Ainge, who is on BYU's team. After the game, I approached Danny to discuss the draft.  My conversation with him proceeded as follows (oh and this was before the Durant's mom incident):

OB: "Hey Danny."

DA: "Hi."

OB: "You're kind of in charge of the draft for the Celtics right?"

DA: "Right."

OB: "If you get the first pick in the draft who are you going to pick?"

DA: "I don't know. I can't say."

OB: "You don't know or you can't say?"

DA: "I dunno."

OB: "Well let's just discuss then."

DA: "Okay."

OB: "I think Oden is really good. His footwork is decent, he can make free throws with his left hand, he's got a developed body, and he looks very mature. I think that in a few years he can be a very good big man. But Durant is the man. He's skinny but he's got time. He's like a McGarnett (McGrady and Garnett mix). I say you pick him if you can."

DA: "Okay, I'll think about it. They are both incredible kids. If we get the first pick, I honestly don't know who I would choose, but I love 'em both. I think they could both contribute to our organization."

OB: "Yeah well I think you should take Durant."

DA: "We'll see."

Okay, so this inside information wasn't too inside, but he obviously like my insights on Durant since he's been hanging out with his mom lately.

Re: Danny Ainge/First Draft Pick
Thats great dude. It truly shows how stupid the nba can be when just simply talking about a kid who is potentially drafted. Sure didnt stop danny talking about lebron though. Funny to me that the league has a hands on/off policy. Yet depending on which player circumstance it is it gets viewed differently. Yet another criticism i have of Mr Stern. Thanks for relaying the conversation OB.

Re: Danny Ainge/First Draft Pick
I think Ainge crossed a line by sitting with Mrs. Durant, but the other fines against Pop and the like are silly.

I just heard Lord Stern is going to fine you for discussing Roy Hibbert.

Re: Danny Ainge/First Draft Pick
For those who care or remember, I did mention that I had a source that said Ron Artest was going to wear #93 well before he got traded to the Kings (like on Jan. 15th., while they were still talking about the clippers). OB is my insider source.
