Off-Season House Shopping

Hello All,

With what will go down as the most disappointing season for the Kings in a decade, this makes for what will likely (and better) be the biggest off-season personnel turnover in a decade as well.  So I thought I'd provide an opportunity for people to predict who's going to be shopping for a house in Sacramento, and whose homes will be placed on the market.

Could-be's, inevitable's, and prayers within reason.

I open with a prayer of my own, one which I've said before on this site and will continue to say so long as there is a snowball's chance in hell of it happening...

Kevin Garnett.  Please, get us Garnett.

Proposal:
Mike Bibby, Kenny Thomas, and Brad Miller
FOR
Kevin Garnett, Mike James, and Mark Madsen (as throw-away to even the dollars)

If Petrie wouldn't send two starters packing (to those who want to include Poodle in the "starters" category, shut up), I would favor sending Bibby packing before Miller.  Bibby may have a lot of basketball left in him, but it doesn't appear it will ever be in Sacramento again.  I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think I am.  Say what you want about Brad Miller, yes he's even slower than he was before, yes he can't rebound at all, and yes his outside shot has vanished, but he can still contribute as a strong backup or a role-playing starter.  He sets screens as well as any big man in the league, and his passing is second to none amongst centers.  Trading Poodle is driven more for personal reasons than basketball-related issues.  I'm personally bothered by his lack of even a shred of basketball talent beyond the genetic quirk of his decent height.

So, let's get this going, any suggestions?

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
ive already given a trade scenario i see more likely happening...even though some felt sac lost in that trade (im curious to know who those ppl are and why)

as far as this trade scenario ah its unlikely...but most fans (including mine) trade scenario's are usually unheard of. Even if they make sense. Garnett will be demanded for cap room/young talent/draft picks almost certainly. I dont see where the kings could get that package to get garnett. If the kings had the first pick i wish for the kevin durant era personally and wouldnt trade him for Garnett.

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
They get cap space in the form of soon-expiring contracts.  Brad Miller will opt-out before his contract expires to finish with his home team, the Pacers (as he's already said he intends to do no matter what).  With Bibby they get their first genuine point guard since Cassell.  And with Poodle they get... nothing... which they're already used to with Madsen so that shouldn't be that big of a problem.  And while I say this is a prayer it wouldn't be completely ridiculous to find they doing.  Moreover, with maybe a third team it gets interesting, I was just too lazy to sit down and do the math with another team in the mix.

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
I'm going off memory here, but I think within the next two seasons.  If I'm not completely braindead yet, his contract option is for the final two years of his deal.

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
i must be the only person who thinks kenny thomas isnt worthless...we'll see what happens...btw the hawks dont lose anything they dont already have and they get a 1st round draft pick...something they can use..personally i dont see how atl loses that deal...also i think miami is the clear winner...and sac gets alot of cap room to resign kevin martin without paying unnecessary luxury tax..i like that idea...dont you?

I like this trade - maybe we could work it into a three-way deal to get Dwayne Wade too?  Or maybe Yao Ming?

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
Big difference here.  One player is happy where he is, the other has publicly reflected a desire to leave on multiple occasions.  KG can make it hard on the T-wolves if he feels like taking it there, making a trade that would otherwise be absurd seem reasonable.

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
and please tell me why the t-wolves would want brad miller?

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
I could see two reasons the T-wolves would consider Miller.  First, his outside shooting would open up penetration abilities as it has for the Kings in the past.  His perceived loss of his shooting touch could be completely attributed to his foot health issues (expected to have full recovery from with appropriate rest time).  Secondly, taking Miller offers the opportunity to free up money for a rebuild a couple seasons from now.  I did classify it as a prayer mind you, but it's realistic to assume the T-wolves are where the Kings are, considering blowing the team up and for all intents and purposes starting from scratch both philosophically with offensive and defensive style and from a personnel side.  There aren't many trades that would look good from a T-wolves standpoint with losing Kevin Garnett, so the next best thing is a trade that would get you decent talent with contracts that could vanish in 2 years.  This structure also leaves room for a potential 3 team trade.

Re: Off-Season House Shopping
So the T Wolves want what ailes the Kings a point guard who won't defend and an unathletic center who can't cover for said point guard.  Not only that but you get an undersized power forward with a suspect attitude with a big contract.  When can KG get here

Say what you want about Madsen but he does provide energy and hussle, that and great dance moves and he can speak some spanish as well
