Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Ronnie Price

I've always been a fan of this guy, although perhaps not for the right reasons.  It seems that I like him because he is the anti-Bibby, i.e. takes it to the whole, dishes well, dunks on occasion.

I was wondering what the rest of Sac town thinks of this guy.  Worth keeping as a backup?  Possible PG starter?  Garbage?  Let's hear it.

Re: Ronnie Price
I like him and I wouldn't mind keeping him.  He still should be relatively cheap and for at least the next year or two he should be better than any point guard in this year's draft not named Mike Conley, Jr.  Price always works hard and appears to be a good teammate.
The question is where does he fit in the scheme of things?  If Douby develops then Q-Dub kind of becomes the next B-Jax, instant offense and energy off the bench.  Does Price project to be a starter?  Probably not, so he winds up back down near the end of the bench, waiting for injuries to others so that he can get the call.  He may get a better opportunity somewhere else.  I'd hate to lose him, but ultimately the fate of the near term Kings won't be decided by their decision to retain Price or let him go.

Re: Ronnie Price
I like Price but there are some things I don't like about him too.

I love his athleticism energy defense and fearless enthusiasm.

I dont love his lack of faciliating the offense. Particularily when he doesn't shoot the ball as well deep as Douby. In addition Douby is not only bigger and longer. Plus Douby is a 1st round draft pick and if it was clear that Price was that much better  you keep Ronnie no questions asked. You take Ben Wallace over Luc Longley don't you? That being said if he was that much better I think he would have gotten more time.

I don't doubt he can play in this league and I don't doubt he can contribute to alot of teams in this league. I think if he was to be let go you would have to consider what teams would be interested. I think Miami and Orlando would be a great fit as would San Antonio if they were looking for a cheap backup. Since Ronnie is from Texas his agent should be looking for options to keep him in the league particularily SA. Ronnie works hard and wants to play in this league. It's just that I think the kings can get a cheaper, easier, less playing option that isn't going to draw the same sentiment that Ronnie will. I would love to see Ronnie get his shot, like Anthony Johnson, elsewhere and have a productive NBA career. To me sometimes teams serve as graduate school's rather than a pro career full out. I think the Kings have done that for Ronnie. Hopefully he, and his agent, can take advantage of it. Happy Trails Ronnie!!!!

Re: Ronnie Price
I like Ronnie a LOT - but to stay in the NBA I feel he really will need to get much better at running an offense. It's hard to do though when you get 5 minutes a game. Summer league will be huge. I noticed the last couple summer leagues he would be scoring 20+ points and getting 5 boards but only a couple assists. I think he needs to thing passing ONLY this summer. We know he can make a layup and hit a three. Let's see him drive and dish or run the pick-n-roll. I want to see double digit assists in his stat line this summer, not just points. I think he can do it. At best he may end up being a Bobby Jackson/Eddie House hybrid player as he is now. Hopefully he can become that all-around player we want him to be.
He can shoot, and he looks good in a suit. Hey, everybody - It's REGGIE TIME!

Re: Ronnie Price
I just think he needs a chance to shine on teams where he could make an impact. I don't think that team, unfortunately, is here. Too bad. Ronnie 2x both need to go. And it's no secret which I would rather keep.

Re: Ronnie Price
I like Ronnie Price he is athletic, strong, quick, improved on his passingplaymaking ability but still not great, inconsistent jumpshot, plays with a lot of energy and hustles his ass off.

I would like to keep Ronnie Price on this team and hopefully he can stay with the franchise for a while i don't really think you have to pick between doubyprice guru why can't they just both share minutes once bibby gets his ass shipped out of town? them 2 can both play backup minutes behind a good solid veteran player who can play the PG position (maybe even john salmons if he is still with sac or even Fransisco Garcia) i know they are not 6"2 but once Garcia developes he can maybe take a starting role when this franchise is rebuilding..what do you got to lose? you could develope doubygarciaprice all at the PG position Garcia can back down the small Pg's that guard him and he can guard Pg's so Pg's can't guard him but he can guard them which makes it unfair for the other teams but great for sac (same with John Salmons)

If Geoff Petrie does something like the Bibby for RondoRatliff trade you thought of it would be a lot harder for Ronnie Price to fit and get minutes with the team with all 3 pg's doubypricerondo there so IF THAT TRADE REALLY HAPPENS than Ronnie Price probally wouldn't be able to fit with this team but if RondoDouby can work why can't DoubyPrice work??

I hope this team goes on a complete rebuilding mode and get rid of everybody besides DoubyPriceGarciaMartinJustin am i missing anybody here? and also get a big man in the draft like NoahSmith to mix it up with them and it can be a team that players with energy and hustles and plays good defense.I pray to god Bibby just opts out and gives this franchise a fuckin brake for god sakes the dude will be giving himself a favor and also this franchise i know bibby won't be getting more money anywhere else because he is an overpaid garbage but you don't fit here bibby NOBODY LIKES YOU DAMMIT!
