The Mustachioed King

One reason to love Stan Van Gundy: He's so damn photogenic.

Lady TZ's first reaction, based solely upon the above Photoshop: He looks like a nice neighbor, bet he cooks a mean BBQ. Lady TZ thought Eric Musselman looked like a snob/jerk. She may be onto something.

Do we have any actual confirmation yet?  The internets don't seem to be so sure.

Re: The Mustachioed King
The most we have is the item linked below. If Stan's in Sacramento, though... I'm fairly confident.

Re: The Mustachioed King
That's a great photoshop. And Mrs. TZ is probably onto something. Musselman does seem snobbish.

He does look like he cooks a mean BBQ, as long as you get something before his 5th beer.

Re: The Mustachioed King
i wonder if at any time during the interview he leaned in to geoff petrie and said: "you know, i do a great doggystyle"

Re: The Mustachioed King
I wonder if he has one of those monstrous bbqs and just goes crazy on it.  I think we need more insider sources to get to the bottom of this.

I see maybe some adwork for Diary Queen with the crown in his future?
& my dad thought musselman looked like a "snobby prep-school kid" but my mom said:"No....he just looks constipated."

Wb Rhondda and for the record only you would bring up Musselman's anal choking.

I try to keep any thoughts on Eric Musselman to his coaching status. :)

Re: The Mustachioed King
Maryland guard D.J. Strawberry ranked as the draft's best athlete followed by Notre Dame's Russell Carter and Marquette's Dominic James. Ohio State's Mike Conley ranked fourth, Purdue's Carl Landry ranked fifth, Temple's Dustin Salisbery was sixth, Georgia Tech's Thaddeus Young was seventh, Colorado State's Jason Smith was eighth, Ohio State's Ron Lewis was ninth and Eastern Washington's Rodney Stuckey ranked 10th.
From Chad Ford's blog on who rated the best athletes in the Orlando combine. When Kevin Durant who is athletic doesn't rate well than that's a problem I think. Since Durant is such a top notch type of player I think maybe it said more about his preparation for that than anything. I would like to point out that Jason Smith did rate 8th. These workouts don't impress me but they do give maybe a glimpse to how good some of these athletes really are. The 2 guy's who shocked me are Mike Conley obviously and Corey Brewer not being there. I wonder why on Brewer.

Re: The Mustachioed King
Strawberry is projected to be a 2nd rounder to not drafted. So is Carter.
James is projected to be a late 1st early 2nd rd pick.
Mike Conley is probably the lone top 10 pick of the bunch. Interesting.
Carl Landry is like Strawberry and Carter.
Thaddeus Young will likely go anywhere from 11-25 in the 1st rd.
Jason Smith Lottery to mid 1st rd and Rodney Stuckey is in the same boat.

I just thought I'd write that in there too.

Re: The Mustachioed King
For what it's worth, Monta Ellis ranked about last when he went through this a couple of years ago.

Re: The Mustachioed King
Andre Igoudala and another guy who im totally blanking on ranked low too. Last I checked AI2 is athletic. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird wouldn't have ranked too high on these things either. It's a matter of a bunch of stuff. Any team basing their opinions solely on this would be plum dumb.

The news is true - Van Gundy to Orlando. This post can stay for historical purposes of course.

that doesn't surprise me... but can any of us really trust Jim Grey?

Re: The Mustachioed King
Nope you can't trust grey. On the other hand he might not have come out with it if he didn't have reliable sources either. We'll know what tomorrow. I'm not that broken up about SVG either way. There are other quality candidates out there.

Re: The Mustachioed King
Does that mean Kurt Rambis is going to be cookin' up our steaks?

by section214 on Jun 6, 2007 10:56 PM PDT reply actions

Re: The Mustachioed King
Rambis could have been a porn star. Especially with his black rimmed glasses. I vote Terry Porter. Rambis has put in his dues but T.P. has that face of the franchise feel to me. Van Gundy has that face on the side of a happy meal look.
We are slipping into the NBA abyss.
