Wait...um, what?

Not awesome.

Now the Kings sit at the end of the string of the broken-hearted. Stan Van Gundy wasn't a savior, he wasn't even a consensus top choice. But he was a legitimate head coach, a great and safe coach to help rebuild the product. He wouldn't have been perfect, but he's probably closer than any of the assorted assistants.

From Ailene Voisin's column, it seems Kings management knew it was a longshot. I guess I just wish we knew that, too. We wouldn't be so frazzled this morning otherwise.

Now can Terry Porter get an interview?

Re: Wait...um, what?
And the draft is still 21 days away and the Kings still have time to get "their man."  In the words of the great C. Montgomery Burns, "Continue the research."
BTW - I'm heading out of town for a week and may have limited internet access.  Don't let 'em make any moves without me.  Thanks!

Re: Wait...um, what?
I can't blame Van Gundy.  I'd have taken the Orlando job too.  Make no mistake about it - I'm a a Kings fan - but our team is in really terrible shape right now.  We've got lots of mediocre to bad players on the downside of their careers with horrendously big contracts.  We also don't have much young promise outside Kevin Martin and (maybe) Francisco Garcia. It's a very, very long way back to the top for the Kings.

Re: Wait...um, what?
I would add Ron Artest to the list - since he is only 27 years old. He may well not be part of the Kings future plans, but I'd like to see who the new head coach is before we assume he's going to be shipped off.

Otherwise, I completely agree with you. Van Gundy made the right decision for him, not necessarily for Kings fans. The lack of power teams in the Eastern Conference and Dwight Howard alone are two carrots we couldn't match.

I guess we won't have to worry about Van Hungry eating all the food at the Home Town Buffet.
We are slipping into the NBA abyss.

It all right
I wanted Van Gundy, but the NBA is a business. I wish Stan nothing but the best in Orlando. To me it was a foregone conclusion he was going to Orlando. I never thought a visit to Sacramento would cement things for the Kings. Oh well.

Am I may at back-stabbing Billy? Not really.

I don't care who the coach is now.

We want Ron Jeremy errr... Stan Van Gundy!!!

Re: Wait...um, what?
Just like Kingme, I thought it was a stretch to go after SVG.  This is kinda like asking a girl to the prom when she's already been asked by one dude, who happens to have better players and lives right down the road...

That being said, we better get on this damned quick.  The draft is around the corner, and all the great coaches have been snatched up.

Re: Wait...um, what?
Why isn't Terry Porter being seriously considered? Does he have bad breath? What's the deal with TP? He seems like he would be a good coach for the Kings.  Anyone know what's wrong with TP besides his humorous initials?

Re: Wait...um, what?
I dont get the lack of TP consideration either. Maybe he will be now. No news is usually a good sign around the franchise too. So it could be TP and Petrie have talked in some fashion also.

Maybe the Magic will require a physical, and then see something that worries them, only for us to luck out, like what happened with Shareef.

Re: Wait...um, what?
Not as deep as my hatred, of course...that being said...if Petrie wants Rambis, I'd swallow my bile.

If the Maloofs want him...that's another story alltogether & I will raise bloody hell.

BTW, I have a musician doing a gig for me in 2 weeks that's a faker fan, he said to me:

"Are you gonna leave in that dis of the Lakers?I can't play that song if you are..."

me:"What's to argue about when both teams suck right now?I thought I'd give the Chuckster a dis instead".....

Re: Wait...um, what?
Maybe Porter isn't being considered because he didn't make the playoffs with Milwaukee in 2005. At this point there isn't a coach out there that makes me excited about him coming to the Kings. TP, Elston Turner and Scott Brooks all seem OK. Heck, even Theus would be OK with me. At least he has a great personality and would be a fan favorite. At least until the Kings went on a 10 game losing streak.

Just kidding! Sort of.

Highly doubtful Rhondda. However since PJ is still working technically they won't get permission until SA is done with the finals.

Re: Wait...um, what?
Kurt Rambis is not looking so bad now imo. He's got 4 championships, has some success on the professional level. Surely, the Kings wanted Stan but oh well. You take the good with the bad. Lets get young and build a fast and energetic team. If we suck and lose a ton of games oh well. But I'd love to see us do what Portland did last year getting Roy and Aldridge. Maybe we could get Conley Jr. and Wright or Horford as a rookie combo.

Perhaps a line-up of

Conley Jr.
Martin
Garcia
Wright and Horford.

Time to blow 'em up, boyz.

Re: Wait...um, what?
I dont see how moving up in the draft will do much honestly. I don't really care if Kurt Rambis is the guy Petrie wants BUT I would be curious as to why, for the last time dammit, Terry Porter isn't getting any mention here? What the F*CK!!

As far as conley/wright they'll probably both be top 10 picks. Alot of teams will most likely covet them. And I really dont see the kings having the assets that they are willing to give up to get that. This team has a rebuilding process ahead of it. You do that with measured progress unless you have the assets to get those top picks. Especially in a league where draft picks in the top 10 are becoming more and more coveted every year.

Re: Wait...um, what?
Except by Danny Ainge.

Porter should shoot to the top of the list now the the hamburgler is in Orlando. If the Kings were going to higher Rambis they wouldn't have got mixed up in the SVG sweatstakes.

Maybe SVG should stop stealing his brothers food and giving him nuggies.

Maybe both of them should stop working their summers  for Willy Wonka pouring sugar into the chocolate river.

Maybe I should get some sleep and dream of draft picks, lot's and lot's of draft picks.

We are slipping into the NBA abyss.
