Bill Walsh is dead!! I just died a little too.
OMG, I almost cried when I saw this. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2954719
Since this is the offseason I have to offer this even though it is football. I know there are many Niners fans here and I am almost as rabid a Niners fan as I am a Kings fan (#1a to Sac's #1). A sad day indeed, my sympathies to his family.

This, obviously, is a good place to mourn with other Niner faithful.

Re: Bill Walsh is dead!! I just died a little too.
I met the man once. I was a waiter and through the good graces of my manager, I got to serve a private party for one of his friend's 70th birthday party. There were probably eight to ten people present, it was a relatively intimate gathering. Even at seventy these friends still gave each other birthday presents. Bill had given his friend a gag gift, some golf contraption, an elastic crotch harness that connected to one's head and arms so if one swung the club incorrectly this harnessed would constrict around the testicals. Everyone got a good laugh out of it. Once the laughter died down Mr. Walsh insisted his friend wear the contraption. The man protested and more laughter filled the room. Then the two of them engaged in a slow motion, old man, struggle--Walsh trying to force the contraption on the man, his friend desperately trying to keep it off of him. In the end, after rolling around on the ground as if giddy children, both men panting, the friend succombed. The episode endeared me to him, it was nice to know he personna was not just a product of media spin or his consciousness for public opinion. My solace rests in the fact that he mentored so many his legacy will live for a long time.
