Guys We See At The Court

I've never posted a diary, but I saw this and it seemed like I ought to share with the breathen.

Have a look:

http://www.break.com/index/11-guys-at-the-playground.html

Feel free to add to the list. Some possibilities:

I play better when I smoke a little pot guy

I play ZERO D because I can't be bothered guy

I rain from beyond the arc...but rarely hit guy

There's gotta be more....

Re: Guys We See At The Court
Kusian, I had trouble with the link, so I have no idea if "Have you ever seen anyone go 0 for 12 from the field and talk as much smack as me" guy is on there.

Re: Guys We See At The Court
Try this, Section:

http://www.break.com/index/11-guys-at-the-playground.html

BTW, great addition above.  There really are a lot of possibilities.  I hope the link works so folks can check this out.  Anybody who plays a lot of hoops has seen all these "guys."

I just thought of another one:

Unathletic, Looks Like He Never Played A Sport In His Life That Puts A Beat Down On You Guy.

Re: Guys We See At The Court
Is that the white guy that is sporting an afro w/headband, knee socks (white with red stripes at the top), high school issue P.E. shirt that causes part of his stomach to protrude, and goggles? That guy whupped my ass!

Re: Guys We See At The Court
How 'bout the chain-smoking, won't-get-off-the-court wheezer guy?

That was me.

Oh yeah! how 'bout the "I can't play for shit because I DID smoke pot" guy?

That was me.

Re: Guys We See At The Court
LOL.

I referenced the "pot smoking" guy in the diary because I actually played against that guy...and he was better.  (BTW, young people this is in no way an endorsement of drug use:-)

The 'sprains his ankle every time out because he's wearing low-top adidas shell-toes' guy.

That was me.

sadly, i'm of the "steve nash height with brad miller speed" variety: but i am a solid wide open shooter

Re: Guys We See At The Court
I like the 45 year old white "play the right way guy" who goes around setting picks and hitting cutters with bounce passes and then gets scored on every time by the teenager he's guarding.  Personally, i'm the perimeter-oriented tall(ish) guy who eventually gets upset with the selfishness/awful 3pt shooting of teammates and goes coast to coast off the defensive boards as many times as possible. I may not be as common...

Re: Guys We See At The Court
I like that one quite a bit. Very funny.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer playing with guys that pick'n'roll, cut, and actually understand movement and spreading the floor.  But, too often unfortunately, those are the old guys that can still play "O" but don't have the lateral quickness to play any "D."  But, let me add, that the majority of high-flying, quick young guys that I play with don't play any "D" either.  And most of 'em have never heard the word "pass."

Watching way too much "And 1" crap on ESPN 2. That show really should be banned.

Re: Guys We See At The Court
that's quite true, especially the passing bit.  That is what's frustrating for me. I always try and hit people who are cutting, but it seems like all these freaking laker fans down here only know how to spot up and dribble drive unsuccessfully.

Re: Guys We See At The Court
You gotta watch the link: there is pretty funny skit on the "always fouled" guy.

by Kusian on Oct 1, 2007 8:35 PM PDT up reply actions

Re: Guys We See At The Court
BTW, you ever notice that the "it's always a foul" guy is usually also the "I've never commited a foul in my entire playing career guy"?

Re: Guys We See At The Court
while were on the subject how about the after work warrior who hopes either a) someone notices the 70 percent shooting exhibition he is putting on by himself or b) someone rolls an ankle and he gets asked to play so he can have his billy hoyle moment because he's tired of all the guys at the ymca who look at the game as a form of exercise instead of hard-nosed competition

So when are we throwing together an STR full-court rec league team?  Sounds like we've got the horses.

Personally, I'm the guy who "Plays solid D and can hit the open jumper", but I'm also the guy who "Needs a breather every few minutes to prevent nausea and vomiting".
