Here's my take on the abilities of the current Kings players based on their ability to contribute to the Kings success when everyone is healthy:
- D. Jones.
- J. Williams.
- K. Thomas.
Brad has done a great job this year and has put Crybaby Brad in the closet for the most part. He is our only solid option upfront, but needs more help.
Salmons has earned this ranking and could move higher. Dude deserves to play.
Bibby is given the nod based on his past production, but definitely his weaknesses have been well-chronicled.
Udrih has played very well and should get better with more playing time. Naturally Bibby's return threatens that.
Garcia is inconsistent, but loves the ball in crunch time. Gotta love a money shooter.
D. Jones and Douby add defense and uptempo play. I hope they are still here after the trade deadline and are still getting 10-20 minutes a game in PT.
Moore has hands of steel. I like his enthusiasm, but he is not NBA starter quality at the 4. He could be a good supporting cast player.
Hawes has abilities, but it's hard for him to get enough playing time to get better as long as the Kings are still playing for this year. That could change in the second half.
Williams has potential, but his free throw shooting and inconsistent play puts him on the edge of the roster. That's probably unfair to say because he really hasn't been given a fair shot to show what he could bring.
Thomas has some skills, but doesn't seem to bring enough energy to the task anymore. He'll be gone soon, one way or the other.
Naturally the main problem is we have eight decent wing players for three positions and one decent upfront guy for two positions. Small ball is an option, but the Kings really need to move Bibby for a shot-blocking, rebounding big.
