Defensive Agression

KD hyped me to this Kings-centric entry over at The Xs and Os of Basketball site, a place I always glance at but never read. I am wrong for neglecting it so.

This is video package from the Dallas game Xs and Os put together to show off Reggie Theus' pressure man-to-man, which I'd always considered to be a product more of having a bunch of gamblers in the backcourt positions rather than a sentient strategy.

It makes sense, considering the lack of shotblocking on the interior. And it makes me feel kind-of good to think there is a defensive strategy going on here.

With the multiple talent we have at the wing positions, it's kinda a nobrainer, isn't it?

It's a funny thing....Theus wasn't my pick at all to be the new King's coach last summer, but the more I see of his coaching & utilisation of the talent he has, the more impressed I am with him.& to think I just thought he was a pretty face.& mostly good for those 'hang time' episodes.

Again I praise Theus

While I don't want to be labeled as a "Theus lover", nor do I think he is the perfect coach, I think he has done a hell of a job. A few days ago TZ posted a story about him be mentioned for coach of the year. I agree, the team has played harder than I ever could have hoped. The defense is not only aggressive, but it seems to have a system. Rotations off a double team is a great example. sure, players take risks, but they are calculated risks.
Think of how many times we all complained about bad subs and time management out of our DUI coach. This year, I have been impressed by Theus. I like his "earn your starting job" attitude, and his game night curfew.
While I want Bibby (and Artest in the right situation) to be traded as much as the next guy, I feel more confident knowing the starting role will not be just handed to them.

Wait....Why is everybody clapping? Everyone around me is clapping.... I guess I should be clapping too... GO LAKERS!!! I hate living in So Cal

Yep.

A good coach should demand & require accountability. I hated the complacent attitude seen last year with the Muss from the players at times. This is a refreshing change; a coach that the players seem to respect who expects optimal performance & encourages high b-ball I.Q.I'm up for 2nd helpings.Lather, rise, repeat(to quote you).
