looking for a game feed on the web at present.

Showcase kenny thomas in my opinion. Let Donald Sterlings high pockets and long arms do the rest.

I agree

Can we find Donald Sterling’s email address and send him Pro-Kenny Thomas stats and propoganda?

www.rojadirecta.com

This site is in Spanish but it has all sport events for the day most times. Pretty shady looking and doesn’t work all the time but I’m sure some of you wouldn’t mind giving it a shot. I use it to watch the SouthAmerican qualifiers for the World Cup.

Look up the game and it’ll give you options where to watch

Local TV

I don’t see it scheduled on the local television channels out here in Sacramento. Is it not on Local TV?

Kevin Martin

is unstoppable. 25 points in the first half on 9 shots, I really think people are overlooking the Kings based off the fact that we have no “stars”. I would say we have an elite player with a weak supporting cast, most people leave out the first part. I’m not sure how many more wins that will translate to but when you have someone who shoots 90% from the field it can’t hurt.

Obviously it’s pre-season, and I doubt the opportunities will be as easy come Halloween and beyond, but clearly, Kevin has a rhythm with some of these guys already. This is going to be fun to watch.

I noticed that too! K-9 was absolutely INVISIBLE in crunch time. He did NOTHING and didn’t run at all on defense. His man beat him down the court on every play. He was terrible. Why was JT not in crunch time instead? Pathetic.

The +/- is nuts.

Kevin Martin: +27
Spencer Hawes: -27

What does that tell you?

nah

this is where I disagree Spence actually did good work while he was in. The -27 should be split between Donte and K9 (woof!)

agreed

another solid game by Hawes. His offense is, obviously, ahead of his defense; defense is the area that I really think will take a couple of more years. He’s gonna score if he gets the minutes because he has a ton of weapons and skill.

Defensively, having so many of the young guys out there at once looks like a f*cking layup drill for the other team. Tough to watch.

Kenny

Was in there with the rookies and didn’t do much at all on defense. Can’t blame it ALL on the youngsters.

Hawes

If that was an example of what will be a down game for Hawes this season (rather than Portland), I’d say he’s making good progress and will contribute. He scrapped underneath and he can score. Oh yes, he can score.

He just turned 20.

Quit yacking on Kenny

He’s the scapegoat for the team and that’s just wrong. I still think Kenny’s a good guy and his age has caught up to him and he sucks because of that and his bloated contract. It ain’t his fault Billy King wanted to sign Kenny to a 50 million 7 year deal and that we gave up a shorter term deal and a better player for a longer term deal and a worse player.

Oh, I will KEEP yacking

K-9 has no fire to win IMO. MY OPINION. I watched him play in the last 4 minutes of the game last night and he was INVISIBLE and playing half-ass. When a shot was missed, he JOGGED back down the floor and was beaten by his man (not to mention by the Clipper guards) and if the guards missed a shot, his man (Paul Davis or McCoy) was there for the putback. Not only that but there were three times where a shot was missed by a Clipper and the ball came to him in a crowd and he TIPPED the ball trying to control it instead of just grabbing it. Each time a Clipper gained control of the ball instead. He is fairly useless on the offensive end and was setting fairly weak screens. He is not the reason the Kings will not win a championship, but he is almost always a non-factor when he is on the floor. He had ONE rebound last night. For a “good rebounder” that is very bad. I feel it’s lack of fire, effort and passion that is why his game has suffered. He had that fire when he first arrived in Sacramento. It seems to be gone. Again, this is my opinion.

By the way

If it’s not lack of effort and fire, than it has to be lack of talent. At his age, he isn’t getting better. Every minute he is on the floor is minutes taken away from JT, Sheldon or Green. That’s NOT what I want to see.

Thoughts
  • Kevin Martin – WOW
  • Unlike the other preseason gams, the starters did a great job getting out and running. This is entertaining basketball. More, please.
  • Jason Thompson really struggled in his first stint and was outplayed by Paul Davis (who?). He was better in his second stint, and his line – 6 points and 5 rebounds with no turnovers in 18 minutes – was decent. He still doesn’t look comfortable, but as in the other games, the energy and mobility are there.
  • Donte Greene was every bit as bad last night as Spencer Hawes was in the first preseason game. According to Theus, the vets are going to get more playing time in the last four ganes, so Donte may be on his way to getting stashed on the inactive roster after Miller gets back.
  • Hawes had way too many turnovers, but otherwise did solid work. He took an ill-advised three (AGAIN) but moved some of his other shots into the 20 foot area, which is at least a little closer to the rim. He’s done a better job mixing in some low post work in the last few games. The overall production was good.
  • Bobby Brown certainly looked quick and finished well at the basket, but hasn’t improved his assist to turnover ratio at all. Still, the numbers don’t tell the whole story. Brown’s mistakes are correctable, his handle is solid and he looks like he knows what he’s doing out there. Brown will be on the active roster and seems likely to get minutes.
  • Brad had a solid outing and did a little bit of everything. He looks heavier than he did early last season, which worries me.
  • Shelden Williams was quiet last night for the first time this preseason. He’s made a strong push for minutes as the best defensive big man on the team.
  • Beno looked good again. Let’s hope he can stay healthy.
  • The Kenny Thomas scapegoating has just gotten ridiculous.

Great comments

I had to recommend your post. Good stuff.

Now for the last comment. Scapegoating? Since I am probably the one you are referring to, I NEVER said K-9 was the REASON the Kings lose and the player for which all the Kings woes fall on to. That’s unfair. I am just making the comment that of all the Kings players, he is the only one that seems to play half-ass at times and is being given way too much burn. You don’t agree that JT should have been in the game instead of K-9 during crunch time last night? We know what Kenny can do. When was the last time he helped the team win a game in the fourth quarter? If he had played great, I would be praising him. He DID look pretty good in the first half. I give him that, but just like Donte’ Greene, he played like crap in the fourth quarter. Spencer played HORRIBLE in the first preseason game. He’s young though. With Greene, he is a 20 year old rookie with one year of college. I can dismiss his bad play for now, with K-9, a 10+ year vet, it’s different. Also, if the Kings would have been down by 20 points with 4 minutes to go, I wouldn’t be caring how bad (or good) K-9 or anybody played. It’s when the games are on the line when you see what a player is made of.

Scapegoat, Kenny is not. He is just a player that I don’t want to see taking away minutes from JT, Greene and Sheldon.

Not just you

dalt99
It’s not just you. Other people have blamed K9 for everything from being blown out in Portland to global warming. I agree that I would much rather see any of the young guys play than Kenny. I’d rather he wasn’t on the team, but a buyout makes no sense from a salary cap perspective.

Theus said that guys would earn their minutes, so he’s got to throw K9 a bone (ha!) once in a while. I don’t really care about the outcome of a preseason game. It’s more about evaluating talent and growing young players. Playing K9 doesn’t accomplish either of those two tasks, so you’re right on that point. I just get tired of people complaining about the guy. He never plays, and it’s not like he smacked his wife or starved his dogs (K9s?) off the court. Again, it’s not you in particular. The complaining as a whole seems unjustified.

Fair Enough

Personally, I don’t dislike Kenny. If he is on the Kings, I will root for him. Hell, it would be great if he came out this season and averaged 18 and 10 in 30 minutes of play. Even 10 and 8 in 20 would be fine but he just seems to disappear (on the court) when the going gets tough – preseason or not. I agree there is a lot of people bashing him but mostly it’s his play and not his personality. I agree that a buyout makes no sense. He won’t be traded this year because of his contract, whether he plays great or not. Like you said, I just want to see the young guys play and develop. If we didn’t have Mikki, then I wouldn’t mind seeing Kenny play some more minutes, but with Mikki, K-9 is expendible. His only shot is to outplay Mikki for the starting role and last night in crunch time was the perfect opportunity for him to shine and he laid an egg. That’s why he gets bashed.

but
I didn’t even know he was playing the 4th quarter.

What did you think of BJax?

I also didn’t see much offensively from Hawes in the last 4 min. You’d think with no Kaman or Camby, that Hawes could of scored some points in the low post. Or, at least a higher percentage shoot the what they ended up with.

BJax put up two 3’s, a layup, & a jumper in the last 3 minutes and they all missed. Plus Garcia turned over the ball. These two aren’t rookies. So, you can’t blame the lose in crunch time on the rookies alone.

Valid Points

B-Jax was at least calling for the ball and willing to put his neck on the line. I didn’t see K-9 calling for the ball or rushing into the lane to knock people out of the way for a rebound on either end of the floor. Spencer made a couple 22 foot jumpers late in crunch time, so you can’t bash him much. All the players on the court at least contributed (or tried hard to) offensively and/or defensively. Kenny didn’t.
