Best one yet
This preseason has been a one-man procession of insane dunks. He crossed Rudy and got over Oden and Aldridge. I mean, honestly Kevin.

A highlight!
I’ll take all of the highlights I can get at this point. That one definitely got me out of my chair.

What is your definition of dunking on?
I’m not sure if I would characterize what Kevin Martin did as “dunking on” Oden. That would insuate that he dunked over Oden, which he did not. Oden and Aldridge slid over too late and Oden tried to block shot from behind. Not exactly “dunking on” him. If Oden was standing between Martin and basket and Martin dunked, I would call it dunking on Oden. But since he wasn’t I would just call it a great play. Martin had many of them last night.

That's what we call an existential question. There is no question, and even less of an answer.

It's kinda like the statement "dunking on Oden" in the first place
Only half there. Dunking? Sure he did that. On Oden? Nope.

"Splits LMA and Oden for the dunk" is the accurate description.
Hell of a nice crossover!

Exactly!
This is like Reggie Bush running BY the defenders rather than Adrian Peterson running OVER defenders. One is about speed and quickness and the other is about power. Kevin Martin was much more Reggie Bush on that play then Adrian Peterson. They are both impressive, but not the same thing.

By the way....
this is being dunked on. Damn!

That's a great dunk
but that’s not “dunking on Oden” either.
BTW if you stop the Martin dunk at around the 13/14 second change. About the time Kevin just crosses the FT line and LA and GO enter the frame, you can see that both Blazers have one foot in the lane. All they need to do to stop Kevin is take one step to the center, or jump to the middle, but neither chooses too. They both jump straight up. If they’d closed the lane they might have gotten a foul, but there would have been no dunk.
I’ll take the(embarrassing “You got dunked on”) defense of Wallace, Duncan or Boozer in the above clips over the(“I didn’t get dunked on”) defense of the two Blazers in this clip any day. Of course considering our interior, I’d take any defense.

I'm a Blazer fan
and this was a flat out sick move. Martin is a stud. You guys have 3 of the most underrated players in the league in Martin, Garcia and Salmons.
This is not dunking on Oden though. If anything its dunking on Aldridge.
He sure did take Rudy to school, however.

I would call that
dunking on multiple Blazers.

I think...
… “dunking on” implies the defender is in position, waiting and the player goes over him and jams it. This is more like “schooling Rudy and then beating Oden and Aldridge to the basket.” Its like when people were going nuts over Rudy’s dunk “over Dwight Howard” in the Olympics, he really just beat Howard to the rim— he didn’t go up and over Howard (who was never really in great position to block it).
The dunk was still sick— it just wasn’t “on” any particular Blazer— he just got to the rim before the big men were able to rotate over.

I think he said it was a "sick dunk"
just not dunking on Oden or anyone else for that matter.

Waaaaaaaah!
Bunch of crybaby Blazer fans. Let us have our moment without coming over here and arguing about semantics.

So, Oden and Aldridge were standing between Martin and the basket when he dunked?
I think anyone with a set of eyes would conclude that wasn’t the case. However, if you want to use your standard of “dunking on” to include Kevin Martin’s dunk then I guess Rudy dunked on the entire Kings team. Woohoo!
by JasonT on Oct 21, 2008 12:41 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Does standin between the basket really make a difference?
They tried to stop the ball and they didn’t, so they got dunked on; its like the dunk Ginobili made on the Lakers. They weren’t between him and the basket, but they all converged on him and he dunked it on all three defenders that rotated.

So Rudy dunked on the ENTIRE Kings team?
by JasonT on Oct 21, 2008 3:50 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I donno
I just remember him converting a dunk on an alley oop where nobody was covering him. I dont remember him dunking through defenders though
by kingsfan300 on Oct 21, 2008 4:25 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Right...
No one was standing between Rudy and the basket when he dunked….just like no one was in front of Martin when he dunked. But if you want to use Martin’s dunk as a standard of “dunking on”, then Rudy dunked on the entire Kings team.
If you want to see what it looks like when a player gets dunked on check this out.

A dunk on Oden implies...
that Oden is fast enough to beat Kevin to the basket or that Kevin slowed down to let Oden get into position.

No doubt
The reaction to this vid is almost better than the dunk, almost.

For what it's worth
I think this isn’t quite dunking on Oden or Aldridge, but all that means is that when he does do it next time, it will be that much worse.

and I know why. It’s not David Thorpe, it’s the mohawk. That thing needs to stay.

I do, too
Oden was too slow to react, and as a result he was not close to Martin at the moment that Martin blew by him.
