I don't think

that they can sign him before 11/12. That is when ‘Reef comes off the books. Until then, I don’t think that they have the room.

Next issue – where do you put him? Shelden Williams can’t get minutes. Is he enough of a prospect that you want to pay him NBA wages at the D-League level?

Didn`t relize that.

We`re only carrying 13,I thought he`d be our 14th player he just lost an NBA job.The contract we would have given B.Jones or Felix I think would suffice. How did we sign & waive them?Being a natural center I would have him be the 3rd C.If he took time from William or Thomas so be it.that would be a good thing for us it would meam he won some playing time by playing good!

You can carry 15

Which is where we are until ’Reef comes off the books. There is also the luxury tax implication until ’Reef comes off the books.

Section,

Isn’t the luxury tax imposed on the team salary in place at the end of the season?

I believe so

And if that is indeed so, good point. It would merely be the roster spot that would need to be cleared.

Also

Because of the luxury tax implications, Petrie would be under the gun to make a trade (even a small one) at some point before the deadline. If not, you not only pay the few hundred thousand in tax, but you lose out on the tax dispersement (about $2-3 million).
