I want to have the current Kings watch films like this one.

If none of those guys had aged a day since that photo was taken.
Look, I learned to love baseball as a very young boy watching the Big Red Machine. At that age, I just assumed the Reds won the NL West every year, and usually won the World Series. I had to get a lot older before I realized my team had six or seven Hall of Famers on it, and I was very lucky to have seen that sort of greatness close up.
Those talented Kings who ran and passed with such elegance were a moment in time, and the only remotely bad thing you can say about those years is that they were never able to seal the deal and win the title. You can’t bring those guys back, and you can’t expect players with (comparatively) inferior talent to just be great.
There will always be talent, but is it the right mix? A lot of things have to go just right, and there’s some luck involved. I miss those Kings, too. They were as much fun to watch as any NBA team I’ve ever seen.
Honestly, there’s no single greater thing that we who call ourselves fans can do than just let them go. There hasn’t been an NBA team to play like those Kings since then, not even extremely talented squads like they’ve had in Dallas, Phoenix, San Antonio and Detroit. Every coach in the league and most fans loved the way those Kings played, and if it could be duplicated, you’d see it every night on SportsCenter. It’s not being done here, or anyplace else. We were lucky to have seen it up close.
The players and coach that we have are the players and coach that we have. For better or worse, GO KINGS!

My point, and I do have one
Is that the Kings have stated that they want to run and gun this year, play up-tempo offense and get a lot of fast break points.
They should learn from the masters. Or at very least be inspired by them.
It wasn’t a nostalgia link at all, except that I’d like to see our athletic youngsters play like that.

Up-tempo
As you said:

We came into the season with problem with turnovers, rebounds and defense. Then we add 4 rookies to the roster ( if you include Williams ), If you don’t think he’s a rookie then 3 and a new guy. Then you decide to go with a up-tempo run and gun style. Isn’t that strange in itself.
First, don’t you need defensive stops before you can get fast break points. You know rebound, steals, & block shots. But, we didn’t do anything in the offseason to improve much there.
Secondly, doesn’t up-tempo imply faster, and doesn’t that mean more accurate passing & ball handling with the potential of More turnovers. Yea, I know, all our guys can run ( Brad puff puff ), and it really has worked quite well.
I’m just trying to imagine Reggie in the woods with his bow trying to come up with a plan for the season. When suddenly 5 dear go running by. He jumps into position, fixes his arrow, and pulls back the bow string. Too late, their gone , 5 two pointers ; )
Maybe next season he’ll get an idea about how to improve the defense.

One last chance I suppose to engage you in intelligent conversing
One thing, a very useful thing, in algebra is the difference between an expression and an equation. Let me demonstrate, a non algebraic form, in HT’s statement here.
An Expression:
First, don’t you need defensive stops before you can get fast break points. You know rebound, steals, & block shots. But, we didn’t do anything in the offseason to improve much there.
Yes, a Mike D’Antoni team set the world on defense with top notch defense and rebounding that was upper echelon. The 7 seconds or less philosphy didn’t have any impact on fast break points at all.
An Equation:
Secondly, doesn’t up-tempo imply faster, and doesn’t that mean more accurate passing & ball handling with the potential of More turnovers. Yea, I know, all our guys can run ( Brad puff puff ), and it really has worked quite well.
What’s the difference? An expression is incomplete., where as an equation has two sides. (And for that AN idiot who wanted to challenge me some time back, I did learn something in “remedial” math class moron.)
Being that I think you can run without playing a ton of defense, and that kinda stuff, what I think is important that the team try to play as fast as a tempo as possible to force an opponent into playing a style they aren’t comfortable. Of course the better teams will impose their will, but that is, last I checked, one definition of an opponent imposing will.
Personally, and I wouldn’t look at what Reggie wants to do as a negative, but more or less a system he thinks that can work with the players he currently has. Put in an offensive system with ball pounders and a guy whose a 1on 1 player and breaks down your offense every night he’s on the floor? Psshhhh, especially when his backup isn’t much better. But at least John Salmons will listen to Reggie, and will attempt to make a change at some point. I’m not looking for perfection. I’m not looking for a great record, or any reasonable brilliant impressions that leave lasting impressions on others for seasons beyond. I’m looking for small signals that says the rebuilding process is a 2 year deal rather than a 8 year deal.

All the serious commentary aside
I really enjoyed watching that video, and I hope all you did too. I think it’s easy to forget how special those teams were, and how blessed we all were (any fan of the game, not just Kings fans) to have them. Honestly, those guys just about every game gave you something that made you happy you were alive. It’s some kind of miracle that there was somehow that many grown men making that much money who collectively had not an ounce of ego and played like they’d all been best friends since fifth grade.
As a side note, is it too late to hire C-Webb to share an apartment with Jason Thompson and spend every waking moment teaching him how to pass, catch, and finish at the rim?
