Sweet

Let’s get this party started. I want to see a 2 to 1 Ast to TO ratio, 40-5-5 for Speed, and about 15 minutes of garbage time for Extra E in a blowout win. Go Kings!

Go Kings!

And hooray for living locally, thus guaranteeing every game is on TV. Although I still fondly remember listening to the dulcet tones of Brian Wheeler’s postgame show after being forced to listen to the game via 1140. Long story shot, fuck the 90s version of Channel 31.

Not the best play or option.

The ‘Wolves’ announcers had a point in that the Kings should have given the ball to Salmons, who had the"hot hand." I’ve always believed in that. Hopefully, Kevin will prove himself as an All-Star caliber go-to guy in the next month.

JT did great! A Double-Double or our underrated rookie!

I’d rather lose a close game than get blown out. No complaints here other than they lost. Oh yeah, no Francisco either. I chalk this up as a success.

Definitely should have gone to Salmons

Kevin missed the first chance with 33 seconds left, the second one probably should have gone to John. However, it probably would have been an iso play because John just doesn’t seem to wanna move well without the ball. An iso play for the game winner is something you call for Kobe Bryant, not John Salmons.

However, Reggie will need to go to Salmons in the clutch sometimes. That’ll really boost his confidence and help quite a bit

Thinking back over the game

it seemed that Kevin was having trouble turning the corner off of Spencer’s picks. Missing Miller’s picks, may be a factor in the 11 – 3 pointers. It also could be adjusting to being the man, or just an off night. I’m not worried, he’ll be fine. He’s too determined to be a star not to figure it out.

Good and bad

Man, Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson were just spectacular. I absolutely love the way those guys played. 24 rebounds between the two of them? I’ll take that every night. They were both efficient and Hawes was excellent on the defensive end. Thompson showed none of the fumbly rushed offense we saw repeatedly during the preseason. Great, great work for those two guys.

Kevin Martin, on the other hand, failed in his first test as the team leader. He missed layups, shot too many threes, shot airballs. Just a terrible, terrible game. The saving grace was that he filled up the other categories on the stat sheet. The shot will come around – he probably missed five open shots that he would normally hit. Still, the defenses are keying on Kevin and I’m going to worry about this performance until he gets back to his old, efficient self on Friday night (I hope).

Mikki’s offense looked good, but he needs to rebound the frickin’ ball. Beno’s five turnovers were way, way too many. The team’s offense was excellent in the early part of the game, lots of ball movement, good spacing and easy shots. Turnovers killed us again. This was the best chance for a win on this trip. Let’s hope they can pull a surprise in Miami or Philly.

KM 11 of his 19 shots were 3s – what was that about?

Yes, its a fact, KM lost this game. Only 2 pts in the 4th quarter – that is unacceptable for your scorer.

Except for a couple of turnovers by Beno, that was the difference.

From Amick this morning

Read this on Bee Online

Rebound or else – Kings coach Reggie Theus made a declarative statement after the Kings’ 98-96 loss that he will play the “guys who rebound.” Mikki Moore had already learned that lesson.
After being whistled for two fouls early and going without a rebound in 20 minutes, Moore did not play in the final 16 minutes, 25 seconds of the game. The Kings – who won the overall boards battle 45-40 – gave up 10 of Minnesota’s 11 offensive rebounds in the first half en route to 15 second-chance points for the T-wolves.

Hopefully, he means it.

Also, while Beno was out injured, BB saw a lot of time. Does anyone feel like me that he deserved some PT and maybe Beno should have been limited some in his first game back?

BJax got his

Jackson got 20min and was quoted earlier in the season as saying he only wanted to play 15. And, Q got his at the end of the quaters, giving Kmart a rest. I don’t believe Q played any PG.

It’s Beno and his 5 turnovers getting 35mins that upset me. If Thomas got 7 min. than Brown certainly deserved some of Beno’s. I know he’s a rookie but he put in the time during preseason, and didn’t give up the kind of easy baskets that Beno’s turnovers did.

and two of Beno’s turnovers were due to other players, one to Hawes who turned to the basket before he had it in his hand and
well you get it.
