Dwight Howard
Has eyes the size of dinner plates right about now.
Questions:
Can we limit Howard to less than 20 rebounds tonight?
Can Kevin Martin still shoot a basketball?
Is Beno Udrih even awake?
Is Spencer Hawes going to continue as the best player on the team?
Is success in this game defined as losing by less than 15 points?
I would very much like this game to be less of a debacle than the last one. GO KINGS!
Shut up and Coach

Scoring points actually does help you win games. We have no answer for Dwight Howard, Orlando is legitimately good; our guys look like this is only the 3rd time they’ve played together. If we won tonight, it probably would have been one of the best wins of the entire season, relax, at least we look like a professional (though very young) basketball team tonight, unlike last night.

I'm really not expecting a lot
of wins this season and I’m down with that but I want to see players out who look like they want to win the game and are going to be pissed til the next one after the loss tonight. I wangt to see some passion.

The team..
So far I am not too pessimistic. The only player I am really discouraged about is Beno. I also can’t STAND Salmons’ dribbling, but he is not playing terriblwe.

Beno has played well tonight
He defense sucks, but it is what it is.

I’m sorry but if this is playing well, he wasn’t worth $30, let alone $30mil. He’ll play better, he has to play better defense..

11 pts. 4 ast
2 to 1 TO-Ast ratio. 50% shooting. That’s about what he gave us last season. I think that’s about what we’re gonna get. Hopefully there will be some improvement on those numbers, but maybe not.

come'on! Hawes
Had to go up against Howard, who got him in foul trouble early
He’s just not ready – none of the kings,(SWilliams was the best) can match up with him when he he’s off – and tonight he was on!

Offensively we played pretty well
we just don’t have an answer for Howard. Double him and they kill us with open jumpers, play him straight up and he could go for 100.

Hawes padding the stats late
now has a decent line:
14pts on 6-11 shooting 4 boards 2 ast 1bs. 4TOs are bad.

Agreed 100%
It really wasn’t a good game for him. But I was pleased that he worked hard at the end. Last year he had a tendency to let a bad evening swallow him up.

But the defense overall is the rough spot.

Nice positives
Beno looked way better running the show, and did a good job creating some plays for others as well as moving well without the ball a couple of times for some easy buckets courtesy of Hawes, who looked like Miller at the high post a few times. Now if Beno can focus in on playing defense and Hawes starts setting better screens for his teammates, the team will better off. I feel Theus made a good move by letting Martin dribble the ball up the court a few times during the game since he was able pick his spots and get more comfortable with his offense; probably got the idea from seeing Wade dribble up the court yesterday and just doing his damage from there. Martin does so much work off the ball, but his teammates weren’t giving him the ball in certain spots where I thought he had good opportunities to score (miller does this well) , so it was the right decision to get him to dribble up the ball during that stretch since that was the time he started going off.

No complaints
It’s a loss, but I can take a loss like this. The team played decent on the offensive side of the ball. Hawes played hard as usual, and JT isn’t showing any of the shakiness that we saw in the preseason. If Thompson keeps playing like this, Mikki Moore is going to be coming off the bench by midseason.
Kevin Martin looked like Kevin Martin again and Beno was not horrible (on offense anyway). The Magic were too talented and Dwight Howard is too much of a mismatch to actually expect a win.
The team looked better, and that’s enough for now.

Yes Carl you hit it right on the head
The Magic looked like a championship team, and the Kings looked like, essentially, they’re rebuilding. Dwight Howard isn’t fair though.

Now my drunken stuper is over, I can go back to repeating myself deliriously without conscience
The biggest difference you saw between the Kings last night, without Garcia, and Miller to a greater degree, is why the Magic are probably a championship contender, and why the Kings are nowhere near that.
Watching the Magic telecast, drunk, in a loud overly expensive sports bar with a charm of a hotel lobby, with obnoxious college FB fans (is there any other kind?), they did mention that not many teams start off the season on the road. I agree with the premise, that A, starting off the season on long road trips is hard, and B, doing it without players like Garcia or Miller who can energize the team, or certain players, makes a huge difference. Should it down the road? No, but that’s the way things are today.
I still stand by the whole idea of that Kings fans need to stop be neurotic pessimist’s. Just because we’re from a boring Cowtown doesn’t mean we need to resort to cow tipping to alleviate boredom.

I mean not many teams start off the season with a road trip
30 teams, and half of those, by the way the games are played, are done on the road. But most teams don’t start extended East Coast road trips to start the season very often.

We always get stuck with the opening road trips
The last season we didn’t start on the road was 2003-04. Every season since we’ve had at least 3 games on the road to open the season
2004-05: The Texas Triangle – Mavs, Spurs, Rox – all losses
2005-06: Hornets, Rox, Suns – we beat the Suns
2006-07: Wolves, Bulls, Bucks – we beat the Bulls
2007-08: Hornets, Spurs, Mavs- all losses
2008-09: Wolves, Heat, Magic, Sixers – we know how that’s going

None
The reason for the 4 game road trip is that the Kings booked Disney on Ice for that week. Per one of the Arco management.

Doesn't matter
Chicago goes on the road every year for the first month of the season because of the Carnival coming to the United Center in November. San Antonio goes on the road in February when the rodeo comes to SBC. It happens. It’s part of the game, and there’s no reason to complain. It isn’t ideal, but with young teams, nothing is.

That’s the winning percentage for the home team so far. The Kings are the only team in the NBA to have not yet played a home game. I’m not whining here – these are simply the facts.

Yes but these facts make a sound difference
Everybody plays 82 games. Everybody plays on the road 41 times. Everybody has to go East for a game. Everybody has to go West for a game. Yes, the Kings haven’t won yet, but winning the first 3 games means nothing for the overall year to come.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, there is too much neurotic belief that these 5 games have any long term meaning.
