"The Kings have wanted to trade for Turkoglu since 2004"
I just found this and I have to say I am split. We all loved the days where Turkoglu was in town and since then he has become a great player. He makes around 6-7 mil per year and has a player option next summer. With his performance he probably deserves 10 mil per season and when the time comes in 2009 or 2010 I don't think he will accept much less although he'll be 30-31 years old.
Orland's GM Otis Smith says "They wanted to give us their trash" so I guess a trade is out of the question but what about signing him as FA in '09 or '10? How much should the team pay him?

No Thanks
He’s too old, and he doesn’t play a real position of need like Vlade did when he signed at age 30.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on
Absolutely love his game, but no bedazzlement for Otis
He definately has a playstyle suited for the Kings… however, we have alot of money already tied up at the wing positions it seems. Without trading one of those assets, I don’t know if it’ll happen.
It was neat though to hear another GM talk about Petrie and his backroom dealings, even if it was negative. I don’t doubt Petrie was trying to make K-9 look good as expiring contract or something, but Otis obviously wasnt bedazzled. I think it could happen as Hedo comes closer to FA, as Otis will want to get something for a player leaving, and we could do a trade and sign.
hedo

Crash
I know others will disagree but if we were to be looking at former Kings that got away look no further than…. do I even have to say it?
Gerald does make near 10 a year though but for the age and upside a better investment than a 31 yr old Hedo. Back in the glory days Turk was my favorite but he is better suited for a half court set with a defensive big man, if not it exposes some of his weakness on D.
Hedo played good D when he was here
I wasn’t aware that his defensive skills had declined. Is he even 30 yet?
Wallace? Really? No thanks. Seriously, that guy is not half the player Hedo is. And he is certainly not a great defender. He doesn’t shoot well; he doesn’t pass well. He doesn’t make anybody around him better. He does dunk and get hurt well, however.
Regardless, by 2010, I don’t think that I want either of them.
Young Players
The Kings need young players. Someone between 22 and 28. 30+ is way too old to pick up as a major free agent signing.
