"My job status does not define me. I'm the same guy I was last year, the same guy I was before I got this job. I try to create an element of truth in the locker room where I can look my guys in the face and tell them how I feel, and I accept when they look me in the eyes and tell me how they feel, which sometimes is not always good. I think I've earned the respect by doing it the hard way. My owners and Geoff, they have to know that I trust them, and that if I do my job it will be fine. And if I don't, we'll move on.''
Reggie Theus, as told to Ian Thomsen of Sports Illustrated

Interesting point made on Theus by Thomsen
For those who read the rest of the article, or only have read the quote, I thought the idea that the Nets would move to Seattle is the most interesting thing said out of the whole thing. (That, and Thomsen lists the best players sidelined, and once again, Speed is not among them. No star gets a greater lack of respect than Kevin Martin in the whole NBA.)

For someone who writes so much you sure don't read enough
He listed the players expected to miss two or more weeks

Kevin Martin isn't expected to miss two weeks?

Hmmmm my bad
He was said to miss 7-10 days. And we’re talking about 8 days later, and not a single mention of his return. I think he belongs on the list of 2 weeks, but okay.

Btw vfettke
He did list Deron Williams who didn’t quite miss 2 weeks, but missed 6 games, which last I checked is what Martin will miss if he comes back Friday at Portland. My point was that he overlooked Speed, like so many nat’l folks do, and he even listed Kirk Hinrich & Larry Hughes to boot. That was the ultimate insult to me.

Not to mention
Eddy Curry and Matt Harpring.

Don't mind Harpring
But I figure kicking Eddy Curry was so easy that it’s Frank Isola’s job.

You think Harpring is better
than Martin?
