Question
If Spencer and JT keep this level of production up, especially with expanded minutes, how are we gonna pay these guys down the line?
With
K9 / Reef / Miller’s money. Although I wonder how we pay them and pick up a marquee free agent, but if our young guys reach that level of production then thats a good problem to have.

Shouldn't be a problem
Hawes doesn’t get “paid” until 2011, JT until 2012. You can go over the cap to keep your own guys, and the Kings stand to have quite a but of room going into 2010.

Also, something to keep in mind. If we sign a big free agent in ‘10 and Shock and Hawes earn big pay days as well, to me that says that our team is pretty good, correct? If that’s the case then the Kings are probably competing in the playoffs and are potential contenders. If that’s the case, then I think the Maloofs might be more willing to pay the tax.

2010
In 2010 the team will get a new player with the money of kenny thomas and brad miller, and the resto of the team would be: Hawes, thompson, udrih, martin, garcia, salmons…
Yes you are right
That’s where trust in GP comes in. We have to hope that his recent and future draft picks pan out along with the contract extensions he just gave out (udrih, garcia). Clearly he sees the potential in these guys. If you don’t trust in GP then it might be a rough time over the next couple years.

and two more rooks!
don’t you forget Greene! plus the guys we’re going to get next year. It’s going to be outlandish.
Donte? Donte'! Donté?!?!
'spect da 'xtra E'
I'm not crossing my fingers about next year until we cross that bridge
I want to see JT, and it would be nice if Greene did too, develop quite a bit so the Kings aren’t duplicating themselves across the board with too much young talent at all the same time.

After Thompson's abyssmal preseason shooting percentage this data is making me absolutely ecstatic
when I think of our team’s future potential.
Keep it up Jason!!
Napear: "Going in to the final timeout what did the coach tell you?"
Bibby: "I asked the coach if I should go and he said, I don't really know what he said."
Seriously
Keep Mikki on the bench. JT’s been achieving these numbers in like 20 minutes of playtime. 2 to even 3 times the stat numbers Mikki’s been putting up in 32 minutes.
Great!
Can’t last (can it?) but you have to love JT’s activity and combination of size and athleticism. His offense has even looked good since the start of the regular season. Thompson isn’t starting, but he’s already getting more minutes than Mikki.
Shut up and Coach
That will change

I think it's going to be a while
Thompson needs to prove he can keep up this level of production over time. I think we’ll see his production drop a bit and it’ll be at least few months before he’s starting. Happy to be wrong.
Shut up and Coach
He's had some
foul trouble too, which of course is to be expected with a rookie, but it is a good argument for keeping him coming off the bench. Less likely to get in foul trouble against backups vs against starters.

Learning how to deal with foul trouble is something he'll have to learn to be a 40 min player
Nobody can stay on the court for 40 mins without avoiding foul trouble at some point.

You're right so often so unusually daringly so
That I consider it a losing proposition to argue this with you. (Unlike the Webber deal for instance. But I’m burying it.) I agree that it could be awhile, but if you told me one option for savior of the KIngs was from the MAAC a year ago, I would have laughed at you. (And that’s knowing that great talent can emerge in the NBA in ways it never will in college.)

I don't think it will, this year
Mikki will likely continue to start but his minutes will continue to be given to JT more as the season goes on and he continues to produce.
That's almost the same thing if you ask me

I was just thinking about that as I'm watching the Raiders getting shut out
There’s still a place for Mikki on the floor but as the season goes on his and JT’s minutes and place on the rotation are going to flip so that by the all star game I expect to see JT starting and Mikki coming off the bench.
I expect JT to learn how to play without always being in foul trouble faster then MMorre who still hasn’t figured it out. To some extent foul trouble comes with the position, but what I want to see is JT getting a handle on stupid reach in/over fouls that impact his ability to play agressively. I’d love to see sheldon fouling agrssively, putting some ass into it, blocking the lane, stopping charges, going for loose balls.Karl Malone was always being called a dirty player but when he fouled a player the guy knew he’d been fouled.
In my mind our outlook regarding trades has been influenced by the hangover from the Webber trade. Once K9 comes off the books most of our guys, in fact all of our guys are tradeable and with the exception of brad pretty reasonably priced.

This means nothing
I think. (I will always be glad Gerald left. No regrets on my end. Kevin vs Gerald. I choose Gerald.)

that G-Dub has gotten this deep into the season without getting hurt.

Charlotte is 1-1
PER means absolutely nothing after 2 games for a guy. Tell me about this 50 games in. Then I’ll give a rat’s ass. (That’s equally true of JT, but we all know his is going to drop. How much, and how quickly, is what I’m keeping my eye on personally.)
