Interesting...
although I doubt Geoff is done in any regard, but this guy seems like a good hire. He would go a long way in attracting a star it would seem.

Only person I would be worried about is
Wayne Cooper. And I’m not sure who around here cares about him long term.
As far as Levien himself, you can paint the brush with strokes from either side. I think we will see what kind of impact Levien has in future months/years.

Only other thing I add to this is
Levien is probably in combat with Whiz for the future GM spot. And Levien will have every opportunity to take it away. All in all I’m pretty happy with this deal, as it eliminates Whiz out of the deal altogether. But I’m wondering how much power Levien can have if Cooper is the personnel head honcho? (Assuming he also doesn’t retire.)

I can't see Whiz as the future GM
He’s 62 right now – I just don’t see him factoring in to the King’s long term future.

Hmm didn't know that
I like that point, and feeling much better about Whiz’s non-involvement in decisions in the future. I thought he was more Joe & Gavin’s age to be honest.

solid hire
If the guy really found and represented Haslem, Deng, and Martin, then that’s a good enough track record for me to have faith in him.

This leads me to believe
that Kevin is really the mastermind behind the Joe Maloof episode. Kevin still hasn’t forgiven Reggie for the “get the ball to” fiasco last spring and that was Joe’s way of pushing him towards the door, per Kevin’s instructions. And now Kevin’s choice is in place to take over for GP when he’s ready to retire. All King’s personnel be warned, don’t cross Kevin if you value your job. ;p

Lights, camera... action!
I’m thinking Geoff is not really down with the reality show thing, so they brought someone in that would get some “backroom dealings” on film. I don’t think Petrie is going anywhere, he’d just rather make the decisions from the shadows and let the young guy get all the camera time. I have a feeling we’ll soon all be seeing quite a bit of this Levien chap yelling into a phone and gesturing wildly.
