Game #19: Mavericks at Kings

Dallas Mavericks at Sacramento Kings, Nov 29, 2008 7:00 PM PST

Close out November with a ... middle finger? I don't know.

Goodbye, November 2008. Thank you for your Shock and Hawes, your Johnny Salmons and your occasional insurgencies from Donté Greene and Bobby Brown. Good riddance to your injuries, your suspensions, your owner-coach spats, your injuries, your bad losses, your injuries and your injuries.

Let's go Kings.

And here I was thinking "Where did that pre-game Haiku go?"

And here you go providing a beautiful poem that sums up the awfulness of Nov well.

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on

I think we could upset em.

Thinking positively, but the Mavs are a bad, bad, good team.

Uh

They had won 5 in a row before loosing a close one last night to the Lakers. The rumors of their suckitude are a bit premature. Though it is probably the most winnable of our next 5 games. Go Kings!

NY Side note

Anyone see the boxscore on the Knicks GSW game? Wow! D.Lee 30-16, A. Hartington 30-10, Duhon with 19 assists. More unbelievable than Marbury finally getting suspended and P. Buress shooting himself in the leg(literally this time as opposed to the figural foot shooting he’s been doing since the off season). What a day for NY sports.

I think Reggie's goal is to be down by 20- at the 4th quarter everygame

and give the young guys practice in coming back from impossible situations. And can you think of another coach who throws the towel with 12 minutes left?

But he does need

the youth to contribute or there is no way we can win. And he hasn’t developed that and that I blame him for.

This is why Theus is a bad coach:

It does completely no good to run all your rookies at once, as much as we’d all love to see it. If you want them to run the starting sets and plays you need to have some of the starting line up on the floor with your young players.

At least let them get some “good” reps, instead of garbage ones…

When someone like Donte

plays this selfishly, the coach has to take him out. Unfortunately, we have a coach who did the same things when he was a player,

Good game by Beno

and that’s the only positive to come out of this game.

Just got in from the game -

Since this would be “The Spew From Section214,” I’ll spare everyone the long post.

74-36 is the 3rd quarter total over the past two nights. Right or wrong, this is the kind of stuff that costs coaches their jobs.

If this sheet keeps up....

Reggie will be unemployed. Team is coming out flat to start games, and they look like ZOMBIES coming out in the 3rd qtr. Brad Miller = a 5 on 4 defensive disadvantage. He is either getting abused by whoever he is defending (including guards) or someone has to double Brad’s man because Brad can not cover anyone in the league, and the player left open scores. Other teams design their offense to take advantage of Brad Miller. He is THE WORST defender at his position in the entire NBA. Until Hawes replaces Miller and we can find a reliable backup center, these kind of losses are going to be commonplace. What little Miller contributes on the offense in his shooting and passing is completly overshadowed by how many points the opposite team scores as a direct result of Brad Miller’s allergy to defense and rebounding. Moore isnt much better defensively, so the Kings starting lineup is just not very good. The time has come for radical change in the starting lineup. The starters should be:

Beno – Career bench player we have to start for now,,,
Martin – Only legit player on the team – team is non-competitive when he does not play
Salmons – Has worked hard to improve each year. Outside shot is still shaky
JT – Could become a dominant force around the bucket – A great sucess story.
Hawes – Biggest Surprise, Rebounding and Blocked shots are needed

Second Squad:

Brown/Jackson (limited 10-15 minutes)
Garcia
Greene
Moore
Miller

Garbage time players:

Kenny Thomas – attitude problem – real jerk

Sheldon Williams – Fat and Pathetic – Giant 5th overall BUST !

Quincy Douby – Not NBA Material – will be NBADL bound wasted 2nd round pick.

Say what you will, but if Theus doesnt make these changes now when Martin gets back, he might not make it till the end of December. There is talent on this team, just not enough talent to win consistently. Playing in this fashion with the OLD Veterans has not produced any results. Losing at this point with this squad is inevitable and probably expected. Anyway, we need a lottery top 5 pick to get a franchise point guard. Then in 2010, we need to pick up a free agent difference maker. I’m only watching to see the developement of the youth movement anyway. Watching Hawes and Thompson is awesome. Watching Miller and Moore is as nauseating and painful as it has always been. The stands are mostly empty now, but Arco will be a morgue if Theus doesnt start the young bigs.

Went to the game...

…and I think Mikki and Brad are pathetic. They looked absolutely terrible tonight on offense and defense. Also, Beno needs to learn how to be a PG and get the team into plays. He seems to be showing he can’t handle the leadership of being a floor leader at PG. This could also be a Reggie Theus problem as far as running plays because the offense seemed stagnant tonight. Garbage time was the best part of the game to see all the young players play- with more competitive spirit and energy than the first unit.

by 916baller on Nov 30, 2008 12:26 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

It's all on Theus

Beno can’t be a PG if Theus is being a floor general out there from his seat, calling out every single play, calling time-outs on fast breaks and what not.
