Marc Gasol is a banger, so we could be watching some foul trouble early on. I don't think the Grizzlies can conceivably stop both Kevin Martin and John Salmons for any stretch, so a big scoring night could be coming.
You know what amazes me about Memphis' youth movement? They start three rookies ... in the first weeks of the season. Is that something? Talk about committment to rebuilding. This is expected to be the last start for a while for Spencer Hawes; Jason Thompson should also see an unfortunate decrease in minutes come Friday, as well. Make the most of it, kids.

If JT continues to perform and Reggie cuts his minutes that would be bad, same for Hawes, I think Miller, JT and Hawes should get the majority of the minutes at the 4 and 5

But the Kings so far haven’t been in a game. They looked dead to start the road trip, but some of that was the places they played too. Philly and Orlando are much better than the Kings are, and the Kings have never been successful in Miami for the most part over 20 years. People need to chill out. They just really do.

It’s 6 oclock in the morning here in Greece and I can’t keep my eyes open anymore. Amare scored 49, Parker has 55 and I watched the Kings for the first time this season in a very pretty 1st half.. and I can surely say after 5 games that I have HOPE!

I can’t really fault Spencer for taking those wide open threes anymore. I used to get annoyed that he was even on the perimeter at all, but he hits practically 100% of them when he’s wide open with an absolutely beautiful stroke. <3

Good game to build on except for the 4th. After a brutal road trip they were nervous about losing it so that could be why they didn’t execute properly. First 3 quarters were a step to the right direction…

But to take it a step further, part of it is for me is that the team executed so well, and then dropped off towards the end. Part of that comes with being a young team, or a very new team whose parts haven’t exactly worked together all perfectly yet. We’re forgetting that Martin Beno Salmons and Moore didn’t ahve alot of time together as an unit last season and they’re still meshing and feeling each other yet. You throw that in with youthful indiscretions that Spencer, JT, and BB will make and what you have is games where they won’t execute perfectly for the whole game even if they were 10-15 pts better for the most part.
I also think, too, that Memphis is probably a better team than we realize. They’re going to shock some people this season.

I think JT has a chance to be the 2nd best player in the draft behind Derrick Rose. I’ve had that feeling for some time, and have sat on it, but I"m saying fuck it now. I think he is that good. Especially on a team where his production is so vital because noone else can do it like JT.

I think Spencer’s career isn’t that good. I don’t his career arc isn’t that high. Which is not to say that I don’t think Spencer’s productivity offensively will be tremendous, or that he can’t do some things on the defensive end. Spencer I think has 3 or 4 all-star seasons. But it’s very clear that JT is just another cut above Spencer, and will always remain that way. HIs body is the most important part of that, but the other part is his attitude too. He’s a bit older, and really had to work to get here. I think it will keep him hungry even when he gets his stardom.

Observations
- Spencer will never be an All-Star, but he sure has a nice stroke on those three-pointers. It’s too bad he can’t play defense without hacking.
- Salmons did a great job on Gay, and they called a couple of fouls on him where he had all ball. He can be a solid player when his head is right.
- Player of the game? Bobby Brown, hands down. Kid played with passion that was sorely lacking on the floor in the first four games. He woke the team up and earned a lot more playing time in the process. I hope he uses it well.
- Beno finally woke up a bit, then went back to sleep at crunch time. A few more outings like this and he could be doing a lot of watching.
- JT rushed a little too much at times, but he’s going to be a star. He can do so many things. The challenge is in how to use him. But he should be on the floor 30 minutes a night.
- Kevin is still trying to figure the game out and his role on the team. I think BB woke him up a bit, too, but he needs to be the guy leading, not following.

Nice observations
I do believe that Hawes would not be as foul prone if he were playing on a team that actually stopped players from driving to the basket once in awhile. I’d love to see a break down of how many fouls Hawes has committed on his own man this year, versus how many fouls he has committed while helping a beaten teammate. I love how active he is from baseline to baseline.
