Around SBN: VIDEO: Watch I'll Have Another Win the Preakness Stakes

Kevin Martin did not practice with the Kings this morning and is considered a game-time decision. Martin has a mild left ankle sprain, which he suffered in Wednesday's win over Memphis.
If Martin can't go tonight against Minnesota, Kings coach Reggie Theus said he will start Quincy Douby or Bobby Jackson at shooting guard.

So it's Brad Miller's first game back

and there might be a Douby in the starting lineup?

Things could get ugly if Martin doesn’t play.

BOOK IT!

Could get ugly?

You mean uglier, right?

According to 1140

Douby is not suiting up either.

Who Starts?

What if they move Salmons to the SG position and have JT or Greene start at SF?

by #12Pick...who? on Nov 7, 2008 5:53 PM PST reply actions

I was going to suggest that too

That seems reasonable with JT’s foot speed, and Salmons ability to shoot over to the 2. Better board options too.

Mike Miller

Unless he’s playing 2 in Minny.

Or Corey Brewer

I guess it would depend whom the Kings would ask JT to defend defensively, and I’m willing to bet they would ask Salmons to defend Miller defensively, and who knows whom they would ask to guard JT if he was in the lineup @ SF. (I’m on the record for thinking it’s a great option though, if Kmart can’t go, which if he’s got a mild ankle sprain, he should be.)

I don't want to see JT in a bad match up

in his first start pick up a couple of fouls and have reduced minutes. I think I would rather see JT off the bench or Miller, JT, Mikki Less (at the 3) Salmons and Beno.

Corey Brewer isn't wonderful offensively

That’s why I say it’s very likely Salmons will match up with Mike Miller. If it were MIke Miller and Rudy Gay in the same frontcourt, then I would be very concerned. With Corey Brewer around not so much.

And not only that

The Kid’s gotta become a man sometime. Being challenged is the only way to get there. Overcoming it is what earns the respect in the eyes of the coaching staff and veteran teammates.

well then

Miller, Moore, Salmons, Beno and JT at the point :-)

LOL

Not sure we want to unleash JT fully yet Beagle. Hold your horses bud. JT’s getting his shot soon enough.

Here's what I think (delivered to the beat of George Clinton in the background)

I think if Kevin doesn’t play he’ll lose some respect with Reggie Theus because Reggie is a tough guy, and Reggie respects toughness. A mild ankle sprain means it hurts and nothing more. You play through that if you’re the star, and a leader.

Couldn't agree more

It’s the old cliche: You don’t play hurt; but you gotta play with pain.
