Looks like the brass are as painfully aware of the TO problem as we are.

One thing about Jerry
A really minor detail in this piece but struck me for some reason: Reynolds used to be the Kings GM/Player Personnel guy, and didn’t have success like Petrie. But he has never been anything but effusive in his praise of GP. Not that GP doesn’t deserve it, but the fact that there has never been, or at least appeared to be, even the slightest hint of any professional jealousy for Petrie’s success and accolades is kind of remarkable. Just one of the many things to admire about Jerry Reynolds.

Part of that is simple
Geoff/Jim Thomas is one reason Jerry still has a job. And he’s better at his job now than he was as a GM. He wasn’t a terrible GM or coach either, but when you’re on bad teams, or part of bad teams, it affects your perception.
Personally, I think Jerry still has a lot of say in what players get drafted.

Something I didn't realize
Miller and Martin played only TWO games together this season, with Garcia out the entire time.
I’m not sure, under the circumstances, it’s time for a panic-driven trade.
Let's go home.-Kevin Martin

Agreed
but the future leadership issue should be looked at with an eye to a trade if no one appears to be emerging.

I wonder
how much better the Kings’ record would be if Kevin Martin was healthy the whole time. I can’t imagine his presence would have reduced the turnovers too much, but maybe he could have helped pull the team through those quarter-long scoring slumps. As for the defense, I feel like the problem is more with the team D and players not rotating quickly enough or at all. So even though Martin is a decent defender, I’m not sure he would help significantly there, either. I can’t imagine the Kings being much more than 4 games the merrier with a healthy Kevin Martin.

It would have helped the D
some at least. The team has been trying to guard SGs with much smaller PGs and guarding SFs at least some of the time (Salmons on the bench or guarding the 2s) with either PGs or PF types.
Mismatches mismatches
Thats why i lobby for another SG/SF player on the roster in exchange for (Mikki?), though Donte’ may eventually be a guy to do it….

I think this team is way too incomplete to
start worrying about small details such as you’re proposing.

You complete a roster when you get to the playoffs
This team has to get to the playoffs to even worry about how “complete” it is.
