I feel it should be noted for posterity's sake that for the first time all season, the Kings are in last place in the division. The Clippers beat Houston last night, one night after beating the Blazers. The Kings haven't finished last in the division this decade except in 2006-07 under Eric Musselman. (Edited for personal stupidity. Thanks, kingme18.)

Be sure to read section214's excellently miserable primer for coping with a truly awful team.

Sorry to burst any bubbles but...

Yeah they have in ‘06-’07 under Musselman.

Suns, Lakers, Warriors, Clippers then Kings at 33-49.

good catch.

Might I add, if things must get worse before they get better… are we looking at last in the conference? the LEAGUE?

’Tis been a fortnight without our shining knight, but little did we know how much rested on the ankles of one Sir Kevin Martin. Thus we understand their brittle mood.

Nah

Oklahoma City can claim that dubious distinction.

Shakespeare on patience

Iago:
“How poor are they that have not patience!
What wound did ever heal but by degrees?
Thou know’st we work by wit, and not by witchcraft;
And wit depends on dilatory time.”

OH no

You guys are going Shakespeare. I really need to stop wearing my #23 jersey.

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on

The bright side

…if these standings hold up, we have roughly a 13% chance at winning the next lottery.

Exactly

No one likes seeing their team losing, but I will take a young team struggling and picking up a lotto pick over perennial first round exits from the playoffs any day.

the curse of mediocrity

You have to totally respect what the Celtics did last year (and this) and Miami two years ago. They gambled and won a championship! From zero to hero.
Getting stuck in the middle is NBA purgatory. Drafting 6-14 in the lottery, or not getting out of the first round of the playoffs (usually those 5-8 playoff spots, but not always). Never good enough to win (it all), never bad enough to get better enough for the improvement to make a difference – to contend..
Perhaps I am greedy, but I am a fan with that hope. So….. I see this year as part of the cycle that brings us down low enough to make that jump. The losing is hard but I hope it serves this purpose.
