Speaking to ESPN.com's Andy Katz after his dismissal, Theus said: "I had no idea [in advance]. We were just coming off our best win [over the Lakers] the past two years. We've had a lot of injuries. ... Everyone knew we were rebuilding and the projection was for 20-25 wins."

Theus added that Kings president Geoff Petrie -- not either of the Maloof brothers who own the team -- was the person who informed him of the decision Monday. As of Sunday night, Theus said he had no inkling that he was about to be fired.

Huh?
We were just coming off our best win [over the Lakers] the past two years.

Definition of irony

A coach who believed in getting wins, thought his team wasn’t going to do it on the professional level.

Or

A coach whose strengths, was listed among other things, to be able to handle the media, said some of the most un profound things ever said.

“Define Irony.” “Well, you know, it’s like, when something’s ironic you know?”
Lelaina: Can you define “irony”?
Troy Dyer: It’s when the actual meaning is the complete opposite from the literal meaning.

20-25 wins?

That’s a fine projection for pundits and outsiders. But the coach should be aiming a little higher, methinks.

Revisionist history is more like it

I seem to remember everyone was on board with making a playoff push this year (unrealistic as it seemed). Unless that was another coach/ownership disagreement, but I don’t think so.

Seriously, I picked 30 wins

And I am a ridiculous pessimist.

Shut up and Coach

I picked 25

And I said you would need beer goggles to watch this group. (That was before this group quit on Theus.)

Rebuilding huh?

Well, if Reggie was so embraced with rebuilding, why the flying **** was Mikki starting for half the season? Why did it take so long to get Spencer into the starting lineup? Why can’t the kids get off the pine until it’s garbagetime?

Reggie really has no clue. He just has no clue.

???

How could he have no idea, when everyone knew he was on the hot seat, and the owners put him on notice a few weeks back?

Well you got your wish

You better still hope your boy is traded to the Knicks. I doubt Kenny Natt will have any more love for him than Reggie did.

So now we'll see

If it was really the coach’s fault Douby isn’t playing well.

But obviously not any time soon, since he didn’t get any minutes last night, even in garbage time.

Let's go home.-Kevin Martin

wow, I just lost my bottom dollar

I bet that dollar that Reggie would not get fired with 5 heads on the pike already. That just raised the starting salary of (place “name” head coach here) by at least another Million per year, and extending the asking contract length to 3 years for little knowns, 4 years for name knowns.
Looks like the Maloofs will need that dollar.

How could Reggie have no clue

When pretty much everybody else in the world knew his head was on the chopping block?
