There was a frequent complaint from the front office and players that Theus was habitually late to team buses or slow arriving to games; there was the way in which his candid nature with the media would irk the players and the team's training staff; there were stories of the coach answering his cell phone during practice. In many ways, Theus had only re-emphasized his me-first reputation of old.
In the locker room a sign put up by Theus read "It's not about you." The sarcastic retort among his critics, however, was that it was about him.

Reggie responded to all that
But it doesn’t matter. Dude’s gone. Let’s move on.
Long love Kenny Natt! LOL.

2 sides to every story
And it’s clearly a he said she said affair. But this quote from Petrie was telling:
You’re always hoping for some sign that there will be change with some durability to it," Petrie explained in a separate interview with The Bee. "It’s not about any one game or any one loss. It’s about a situation more in its entirety. Once you’ve come … to the conclusion that you’re only prolonging the inevitable, you may as well go ahead and do something.
I’m glad the Kings fired Reggie. It doesn’t prolong the inevitable, and it doesn’t cloud the fact that these players weren’t into the games. Some blamed Reggie for their shortcomings (see Jackson, Bobby and Miller, Brad) and age, and then in the NBA, which is far more complicated than college, had players who were adjusting to it, and hadn’t quite yet. So, whatever. Like most things, it was time for a change. This group didn’t have anything left for Theus, and that’s okay. But the finger of blame is equal across many fronts, starting with Petrie and the Maloofs, along with the players, and some of what Theus did do himself. And to which end is more responsible? Shif if I know.

At the end of the day....it's for the best
I admit that I came to this website frequently to post up things like “FIRE REGGIE” and I took a lot of smack talk from some of the members of this website. For everyone that said I didn’t know what I was talking about, then you were right, I was wrong. Theus did make it past the Lakers game. Pro Basketball is a business no matter how you look at it and I am happy with the Kings decision to fire Reggie Theus. All this other stuff in the media that is coming up like picking up his cell phone or coming late to work, or whatever it may be, is now all in the past. Leave him alone now. He’s fired and gone. Let’s all move on and support Kenny Natt through the rest of the season.
FIRE REGGIE THEUS! FIRE REGGIE THEUS! FIRE REGGIE THEUS!!!

You might want to change your sig then
And I’m not sure you can dictate what’s discussed around here. Shoot, the topic of Eric Musselman still comes up occasionally, as does Rick Adelman.

If all things Kings is the vernacular
Then nobody will dominate it, unless you’re talking about the franchise.

Cell phone during practice?
After the no cell phones on the bus controversy? That’s the type of thing that will lose respect very quickly.
