Kings Bulls Trade Scenarios

If it really was in Petrie's hand  to do the Marion trade, then I don't know why the Kings wouldn't have done it. Bulls have confirmed there have been talks with the Kings(as if we didn't know). You almost have to assume B-rad is involved. What are some realistic trade scenarios that could happen that would satisfy both teams?

Would you do any of the following?

1) Miller and K-9 for Hinrich and Nocioni

2) Miller and Beno for Hinrich and Gooden

3) Miller and Douby/Shelden for Hinrich and Thomas

4)? for ?

When you give up on Luol Deng, let me know (thought others around here don’t like him).

I don't like Deng

And don’t think he’s worth acquiring for what he’s getting paid.

Yes

by others, I meant pookey, lol.

I’m pretty convinced you don’t like anyone though; everyone is fatally flawed in some way.

But For Three you bring up a point about Deng

And now starting to read some stuff on BaB (Blog a Bull), here’s one fanpost over there about why Deng isn’t the player the Bulls need. But, yes I got an idea, let the Kings have him, in return for Big Bitch Boy. (B Jax is lil Bitch Boy.)

Deng is BYC, and in case you hadn’t heard, it’s next to impossible to trade a guy whose BYC. That is, unless a team has cap room. Which the Kings don’t. Furthermore, if you read that fanpost, you’ll notice how well Deng shoots mid range, which is rather important for a SF. His eFG% is low for a guy who supposedly is good from that range. Also, he’s expensive which means a long term committment. And, the Kings already have Salmons (less expensive), Garcia (less expensive), and Greene (younger, better shooter, less expensive, and if you believe Jerry Reynolds, a much better talent than Deng was, who by the way, went 7th in the draft in 2004—I stand by the statement SF’s/SG’s are much easier to find than any other spot on the basketball court because it’s easy to develop one, or have one develop quickly from raw potential, and because the PF/C spots are much harder, there’s a much easier chance that a quality young player at the SG/SF spot will slip, ie Greene, Martin and Garcia.)

So in otherwords, no to Deng.

You Beat Me To It!

“It’s known the Bulls have had talks with the Kings, though it’s unclear who on that roster interests the Bulls. Former Bull Brad Miller is available.”

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/chi-081217-chicago-bulls-los-angeles-clippers,0,2826132.story

Personally, I’d take what’s behind door number 4, because I wouldn’t do anything involving Hinrich or Nocioni. Hinrich has 4 years at $10-plus million, and Noc has 5 years at more than $8M. No thanks.

I’d try to force K-Thomas on them, and if that doesn’t work, I offer Miller, Moore & Douby for Gordon, Gooden & Thomas. Gooden & Gordon expire after the season, and TThomas expires the next. It gives us time to see how Gordon could fit in, and potentially resign him if he plays well. Same with Thomas.

The Bulls might do it, because Miller could actually help them, Moore is affordable to buy out, and they’re gonna lose Gordon for nothing anyway.

If the Bulls don’t take it, then I wait for something better (and sit around wondering when the HELL Miami is finally gonna give up Marion for Miller & K9!?!).

What about?

Hughes starts at PG,Beno to the bench.
Hawes & JT start,w/Tyrus & Gray as backups or switch Tyrus w/ JT.

My preference

I guess I’m going simple: Gooden and Thomas for Miller. Expiring contract? Check. Promising forward? Check.

Gooden could start at the four until he’s flipped at the deadline or bought out in March. Heck, wouldn’t the cavs take him back for Eric Snow and a pick, if they can’t otherwise find a big?

by Tom Ziller on Dec 18, 2008 11:00 AM PST reply actions   1 recs

Nice deal

Didn`t think about flipping Gooden, thought it would create logjam at 4.

by hudson101 on Dec 18, 2008 11:04 AM PST up reply actions

Isn't There a Rule About Flipping the Player

Is there some rule that requires a player to be w/ a team a certain amount of time before he can be traded again? Would there be enough time left before the deadline to flip Gooden? I thought the Bobcats wanted to rush the deal w/ J-Rich so they would have enough time to possibly trade Diaw before the deadline.

by PhutureKings on Dec 18, 2008 11:10 AM PST reply actions

Rules

The rule is only if you package a player with another player. Diaw could be traded by himself today; if the Cats need to package him with another player, they have to wait 60 days

Deals need to get done tomorrow (Friday) to squeeze in under 60 days by the deadline.

Just say no

to Nocioni, Heinrich or Larry Hughes under any circumstances. If the rest of the Bulls roster is in play, I’d listen. Ziller’s deal would be great for the Kings, even better if we find a way to get rid of Gooden.

Softened

I’d say no to Nocioni and Hinrich under any circumstances. I could be convinced on Hughes, since he expires in ’10.

by Tom Ziller on Dec 18, 2008 12:03 PM PST up reply actions

Hmm, I didn't realize that

His contract has been terrible for so long, I guess it makes sense it must end soon. Allright, I could get on board for something built around Miller for Thomas/Hughes, but I irrationally like Tyrus Thomas I think.

Personally

The only player I want on the Bulls is Derrick Rose. Since I doubt the Bulls are willing to trade him, I don’t really see the point of pursuing any player the Bulls got.

Thomas is a late bloomer.

Don’t write him off just yet. Kevin Martin has a very high opinion of the guy from first hand knowledge of his summer work-outs. He seems dedicated to improving and I could see a Jermaine O’niel type leap in production when he hits 24. Thomas is also the shot-blocker off the bench the Kings have needed for sometime and I think his game could easily develop into something similar to Josh Smith without the wacko character issues.

I say yes! Make the deal now without picking up any long term contracts.

Well in that case

I don’t mind being wrong. I just don’t really see it. But, for all intents & purposes, I have no quarrell with bringing Tyrus Thomas back JJ. If he develops. so be it. If I’m wrong, then I don’t get to have cake & eat it too.

We aren't dealing with another Sheldon Williams here.

Thomas is a fluid big man with tons of athleticism. He just needs some work.

by jjham15 on Dec 18, 2008 1:12 PM PST up reply actions

There's nothing wrong with Shelden either

He’s just not Al Horford. That’s okay. Shelden is a cheap servicable big whom I hope the Kings think about retaining beyond this season. Especially if you consider him as a cheap servicable 4th big in the rotation behind, say, Shawes, JT, TT. All those guys can play with Shelden in one way or another. So in fact, I suppose I’m not that opposed to TT after all.

by pookeyguru on Dec 18, 2008 1:16 PM PST up reply actions

Good thoughts

Never thought of him as a Josh Smith type. Thomas is only 22 in his 3rd year. Like Smith, if he develop a jump shot he could really be dangerous. Thomas needs to bulk up too because 215 lbs. won’t do it at the 4 no matter how athletic you are. So if we get Thomas, we have a future frontline of Hawes, JT, Greene, Cisco and Thomas and maybe this year’s pick.

by rc360 on Dec 18, 2008 1:15 PM PST up reply actions

I'm not into Blake Griffin anyway

I really don’t think this team needs Griffin without TT, let alone with him. Either way, the more I read everyone’s comments on TT, and the more I think about his athleticism, acquiring TT would be another missing link to what this team needs up front. With Greene around, and Shelden Williams, you have an uber young team with a ton of quality pieces everywhere you turn. Now all this team needs is just a quality PG that is top shelf.

by pookeyguru on Dec 18, 2008 1:18 PM PST up reply actions

I'm more into Hasheem Thabeet

For some reason I don’t like Griffin that much either. At 7’3 and the athleticism I’m hearing about Thabeet should be a rebounding machine coming off the bench. Plus he gives something the Kings haven’t had in years, size. I really hope the Kings can grab him.

by rc360 on Dec 18, 2008 7:24 PM PST up reply actions

Griffin...

is the concensus, undisputed, undeniable top pick in the draft (with only Rubio having the potential to de-throne him).

And you’re “not that into him”!?! Yeah, I guess we couldn’t really use a Carlos Boozer-type guy (with more athleticism & hops).

And the Kings haven’t had size in years? Gee, I guess two 7-foot centers (Miller & Hawes), a a 6-11 PF (JT), and a 6-10 SF (Greene) don’t count, eh?

If your choosing between Griffin and Thabeet, it’s not really a choice at all. Griffin.

by PhutureKings on Dec 18, 2008 8:21 PM PST up reply actions

I agree. If choosing, Griffin.

But If Sac has that choice they have the #2 pick (and Rubio went #1), because after that Griffin’s gone. Now assuming Sac doesn’t get 1 or 2, I have a good feeling about Thabeet if they can get him. Yes, because of his s-i-z-e, and shot blocking defense.

After Griffin and Thabeet, there’s no bigs worthy of a high pick to me. Now guards on the other hand, there’s plenty. That’s why I think Sac should try to get a third big (along with Hawes & JT) by trading for a young promising player. Like Thomas. Chances aren’t great they’ll get either Griffin or Thabeet.

I’m not totally sold on Thomas either but he’s young, cheap, promising, available?, 2010 expiring (experimental) and athletically/defensively intimidating. Looking on the trade machine rosters, that list is short. Maybe Sean Williams- NJ…what about Marcin Gortat- Orlando. Anyone notice what he did in that one game playing for Dwight Howard? 28 min. 16 pts. 13 reb (7off). 3 blk. He’s got 1 yr, $711k. Doesn’t Orlando like Brad? Aaaanyway…

Get Brad & K9/Moore/Douby/BJax outta here for Thomas. Draft Holiday, Collison, Calathes, Maynor, Jennings, Curry.

When I say size

I keep in mind a 6’7 power forward in K-9 an undersized 6’9 Shelden Williams, both who don’t get PT and a 225 pound Mikki Moore. I don’t count them as size. The Kings need another big man, a center going into next year and all 3 players above and Miller won’t be here in 2010. If they do trade Miller and pick-up TT, getting Thabeet wouldn’t be a bad idea. Add that to Greene, JT and Hawes.

Chances are that we don’t get the #1 pick and the Kings, at this time, they’re #4 and can go anywhere from 1-7. Plus, things change between now and June 25. Some of the freshmen might stay in college. Like busybe said, after Griffin and Thabeet there’s really no one else

no point trying to sell Griffin...

You are definitely in the minority on this one pook, and unless he gets hurt Griffin will go #1, and the odds of the Kings getting that pick are very slim.

Yes, the Kings are a bad team but two of the sorriestt excuses for a pro basketball team in recent NBA history will be hoarding all the ping pong balls next year: OKC and the T-Wolves. The Wizards are a total mess too.

After we trade Brad #3-#5 is more realistic, I’d say.

unless it’s with memphis, a trade has to benefit both parties to work. it seems like the bulls have a logjam at guards and the kings have one at front court. that’s why i thought hinrich would have to be involved on the bulls side somehow. im surprised how unliked he is around here. i think he’s faster and plays a lot better defense than beno with all else about equal.
I think TT has good potential and some elements that the kings need. The media overhypes drama and prey’s on players’ mistakes so it’s hard to judge true character and work ethic, but I’ll take Martin’s word. If a trade happens, I hope it involves him in the package.
How do we feel about Gordon? I think he’s only on the books through this season at 6 and half mil.

by creep on Dec 18, 2008 1:30 PM PST reply actions

Here's the problem

Gordon is on the 5th year contract of his rookie deal, and as such, he can turn down any deal that trades him from the bulls. Players who sign these deals (and under some cases veterans with certain deals have the same power) where they can turn a deal where a trade can end up with a circumstance where the team loses their bird rights (which would be the case if the Bulls trade him). Therefore, in order for that to happen, Gordon has to consent to it. Which I doubt he will, but you never know. Bird Rights aren’t the only way players get money in this league. Just ask Baron Davis and Elton Brand. For those who are looking to know more about the type of rights Gordon has, just read this.
