Poll of the Indeterminate Time Period: Brad Miller Edition
In Sunday's column, Ailene Voisin writes:
[Brad Miller] is frustrating Kings fans, most of whom bit their cheeks and swallowed their tongues, resisting the urge to blast him with boos when he returned from the five-game suspension earlier this season.
Please answer the following question honestly.

It was only after his play,
during his suspension we all hoped he’d be back as the Brad-ass from yester-year and were glad to see Shock and SHawes get serious burn.

I was glad to have him back
Our passing game lies with him
Wack To Mack With The General and The Back. (J-Mac and D-Mac)
Voison = Turrible
Yep, she gets a Charles Barkley “turrible” for this.
Does she think these things through, ever? Does she ever write some of this stuff and stop and think. “is this true? Do I even know what am I talking about? Do I have any credibility whatsoever?” It’s kind of ridiculous.
What’s funny about the above statement is that it’s almost right. If she had replaced this:
when he returned from the five-game weed suspension in November
with this:
every time a call doesn’t go his way and he starts whining like a little baby instead of getting back on defense
she’d be absolutely correct.

in fairness to Vioson
She had published an “open letter to Brad Miller” upon news of his suspension. The comments in response at SacBee.com were insane. Not just a little crazy, but outright Randolph P. McMurphy get me out of here lunatic. Most comments were that “hey, it’s just some weed” and others were insulting to the writer in a personal manner for even calling him out. One or two were racist.
The open letter asked simply: What were you thinking? What were you thinking? What were you thinking?
I side with Ailene on this one. Of all the things that happened last year with Ron-Ron and up and down of playoff hope and summer of new expectations the Brad Miller suspension was most disappointing. It spoke volumes. Unforgiveable? I don’t live in a glass house, so no, of course not. I was extremely impressed that Brad returned to the line up aftrer this humiliating suspension and played well, with energy and with something to prove. That was more than twenty games ago and he has returned to demotivated status. It is not out of line to suggest new blood tests. I am sure that GP & Co. are looking for deals and now that we are more than 10 games out for most of the coaching changes with uniform lack of success for all six teams, it is time to start trading players or firing GMs. Look for trades and remember that GP is very very patient.

The point of article seemed okay
But I"m not sure any Kings fans holds a ton of dismay towards Miller over the suspension. It’s the play since Martin went down that has me (at least) in dismay over the B52.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on
I almost understand it though
The guy he most loves to pass to has been out. The teams second best scorer (Salmons) needs the ball to be effective, which really eliminates some of what Brad does well. And on top of that he knows he’s on the trading block. He’s in a crappy position.
However, as a professional who admits in this article that he’s a dick when he’s losing, he should be playing harder hoping to get traded to a better team. The three teams that have been mentioned are Cleveland, Miami, and Chicago. Those first two are likely playoff teams while the Bulls are on the cusp.
So, suck it up and be a big boy Brad!

Miller's suspension
Yes, I wanted to boo the hell out of him, but did not. As a Kings fan and keeping it real, the guy made a mistake so give him a chance to make it up. However, as a parent trying to keep my kids off drugs, I feel differently and wish he was permanently banned. I don’t care how good they are and whether they want it or not – these guys are role models.
Permanently banned?
For smoking pot? Sounds pretty Draconian.
Wouldn’t a cool alternative as a parent be to explain how Brad lost a significant amount of money via the suspension, lost respect from his teammates and the fanbase and will have to live with the pothead label the rest of his career?
Those are tangible consequences to Brad’s bad behavior.
Are we gonna live together? Together are we gonna live?
I got a better question
Why is Xanax legal, but marijuana isn’t? That’s a more salient question in our lives.
