Now is the winter of our discontent …Richard III
At this point - do you really think ANY other coach will have us lose less than 55 games (we are on pace to lose 60).
As for the lottery sweepstakes - the fight at the bottom will be as intense as the fight at the top - OKC, Minny, Memphis, Clippers all have worse records. The view from the basement is crowded, it is expectation that is lonely. I know LPA, Section and Pookey have made opinions regarding "an atmosphere of losing" as being a poor lesson for the young'uns. I differ. We must should lose to win. It is a losers’ gamble but I like the odds.
As a player I would be much more excited about getting some added talent next year. It is early December and let's face it - is anyone on the Kings thinking playoffs this year? They have to play for pride - it is up to the coaching staff to keep these guys on the pride page. Will they throw games? God forbid. I don't want any part of that team, or that type of player. I can't believe Spencer, JT or Donte' would be upset if say, Blake Griffin became a King. Minutes are less precious if you are winning (unless you are K9 or Salmons <--- not a Salmons hater but you know he wears those thoughts on his sleeve).
Ok, there is a point somewhere in my ramblings; oh yeah - Keep Coach Theus until the water is above his head and before the bubbles stop. Why can’t the Kings compete on the floor and compete for the lottery? Are those two paths parallel or divergent? Bring in winning talent (coach, players, draft picks) and presto change-o! - Winning cures all ills – it gives wings to the deepest despair and erases the stain of bad memories. What player says – “I know we have more talent and a better coach now but we lost last season so we can’t win today”?
