Do not look into his eyes UNLESS...

  • you have David Lee available on your bench
  • Linus Kleiza and a 1st Round Pick are waiting to relocate
  • you think that Brandon Wright is totally worth giving up for that kind of play
  • a package of Scola, Brooks, and a 1st Round Pick would be worth shipping out for this kind of improvement
  • you think any/all of the above would be far too little to offer, and you could do so much better

If you fall in one of the above categories...

Ron ron
Yeah, I could live with the Ron we saw last night for the next season and a half. Maybe Good Ron will show himself more often now that Bibby's gone. If so, I recind my earlier Artest for moldy cheese sandwich offer.

That being said, damn. Last night, just damn. I don't think I've been this excited about Kings basketball without the whole impending sense of doom thing looming. (AKA Bibby returning from injury.)

And while I'm here, Beno Freaking Udrih. (I'm not looking up the spelling) Go Kings.

All spelled correctly, Sir
Right down to the Freaking.

So are you excited about the Kings if we trade Artest?

Um....wow?!
Good Ron appeared.  I'm still not sold on Good Ron outlasting bad Ron.  Plus, Salmons did nothing again.  Heres what I think, Ron needs to take Salmons and K-Mart to work out all summer together.  So we can have some sort of cohesiveness.  If we're not gonna trade Ron, him and Salmons gotta learn to play together.

Interesting debut for Sheldon by the way, 5 minutes, 3 rebounds, 1-3 shooting, 2 turnovers, and a block.    He made his outside shot and missed two in the paint.

We should email this pix to all the GMs
You can't resist Ron. He's just as good as Kobe (according to him) and that's only on offense

I'm still excited minus Ron
The thing is, and I'll get more into this when I post the diary I'm working on (slow work day), Ron Artest is really the only other shoe that can drop now that Bibby's gone. With Bibby, you weren't sure if it was going to be one of those games where he tries to force the jumper on every other possesion and you pretty much knew that the opposing point guard had an open invitation to drive to the hole. With Ron, we'll always be wondering whick Ron is going to show up that night. Last night it was Good Ron, tonight it may very well be Bad Ron. Past that, everybody's either doing pretty much what I expected or exceeding expectations to the point where even if they blow out their knee tonight, I'll still go "damn, I did not expect this much from him, good job" (Brad Miller, I'm looking at you.) I haven't been able to say that in the past decade or so because there was so much riding on the games. Let's be honest, the Kings as a whole have exceeded expectaions for the season, and if they make the playoffs, while sucky for lottery purposes, you know Arco would go ape s*** after the clinching game. Sure we'd get swept in the 1st round, but unlike the last time we ended a playoff drought we're actually built for the future instead of depending on a moody guard.

oops, had a simmons moment there at the end
Let me note that I think there's no chance in hell we're making the playoffs, but the built for the future thing is still awesome. When was the last time we had a decent idea about the future of the team?

exactly my point
And even then I had questions about White Chocolate's consistency. Never really trusted a guy who shot 3s five feet behind the line

I think what we're seeing with Artest
is the exact opposite to Bibby. Bibby for Williams + the cap room the 3 expiring players contract is more than acceptable; it's needed. That being said Artest is a far better talent than Bibby is, and if you are going to trade him, you need to get better talent than what you got in return for Bibby. So while I would be extremely disappointed that Artest will still on the team come noon EST on Feb 21st; I will partly understand why. I will be angrier than shitballs though. :)

Ron has too much upside...
to let him go cheap.  The contract we have him on is one heck of a deal compared to his talent.  Denver is probably only trying to jew Petrie down, waiting till the last second.  Just watch what happens tomorrow.  I guarantee Denver will blink first.  Petrie is playing this well so far.  I hope he does not cave.  If nobody comes up with the mega deal then so be it, Ron stays.  Either way it's a win win for the Kings.

A little offended
by the "jew Petrie down" verbiage.

No offense intended.  It was the only word that came to mind trying to express my thought.  I have no animosity towards Jews.

it looks like...
theus got into artest's head and convinced him how much of a mismatch he is if he takes it to the hole. and not a mismatch at all if he's settling for jumpers. his jumpers last night came on time, and also came under control. if he can consistently attempt to abuse whoever is trying to guard him while he goes to the basket, and not just settle for the fadeaway turnaround double pump off hand 3 with 20 on the shot clock, we'll see a lot more good ron. but i know, i'm just preaching to the sactown choir.
