GAME 69 at Memphis, Game Thread

Hi. Game tonight. 5 pm Pacific. Go Kings.

(Sorry for the lack of presence this weekend. I'd blame it on the NCAAs, but it's really the sun's fault.)

I'm gonna book this one
Before it starts because losing to the Grizzlies twice in a season means you're team belongs in the D-League. The Kings are not in the D-League so they will win tonight.

Prediction:

SAC 108 MEM: 103 Just because Sacramento plays to the level of their competition.

Do you think
They are going to shut down Brad, Ron, and maybe K-mart for the rest of the season ?

Closing Schedule
The Kings have 8 more games against teams fighting for western conference playoff slots, 4 of those at home. I think we will see a fair representation of our "best" players in those games.

The Memphis game was the back end of a back to back on the road, with Houston coming Monday. The game had no real meaning for either team. Certainly, it was far more interesting to watch with Hawes getting minutes.

I think Kevin will play
If for no other reason than he needs to avg about 18 pts a game the rest of the way to reach 1400 points, I think it is, to qualify for the league leaders in scoring.

We're two wins shy of last season's win total, so I think we'll push hard to pass that, but if someone is injured, even a little bit, I think they'll sit.

Don't know how bad Beno's back is, but I'd bet Ron and Brad would have played if we were in contention for a playoff spot.

This is Hawes' first start eh?
Starts off with a couple of baskets and a board.

Just wondering
Had Hawes stayed in school I wonder where he would chart out on this year's draft list? I'm guessing maybe a top five pick? And we would be sitting in the 12 slot, lusting for a guy like Spencer Hawes, except that he'd be long gone by the time we pick.

I'm still not ready to put the all star stamp on him, but this 19 year old kid has got some po-ten-tial.

34 minutes of PT so far
Probably needed a little blow. I hope to see him back in for the finish.

I should have guessed
hope they figure out how to include him in their offense in these last few minutes

I like you, Cisco
But that may be the stupidest foul that I've seen this year.

A little pespective
Yes, the Kings lost.  Yes, it was to the Grizzlies.  Yes, that is pitiful.

However, Hawes looked better tonight that I ever thought he would.  Give us Beno and either Miller or Artest, and it was an easy win.  Hell, if Garcia doesnt commit one of hte worst fouls I have even seen, I bet they would have pulled it out.

The only thing that really bothered me tonight, was Martin's lack of intensity.  Yes, we are out of the playoff hunt, but Martin just didnt show the intensity.  It (gulp) reminded me of Bibby toward the end of last year.  I know I have said it over and over again <insert horsing beating picture>, but effort is the one thing I really demand from our team.

Wait....Why is everybody clapping? Everyone around me is clapping.... I guess I should be clapping too... GO LAKERS!!! I hate living in So Cal

Garcia
made more than one mistake down the stretch.  Martin really looked tired in the fourth.

Now I wish I had remembered to DVR
the game. I have a feeling this game will be instructional towards the development of one Spencer Hawes.
