I agree.
I really feel great about this team just watching the last two games.  A last second loss to the Spurs where we had two shots to win (1 fouled), and a nice home win against the Hornets, we are very competitive and adding a lottery pick plus a more seasoned Hawes and a J-Wil plus (imo) that is Shelden Williams. I think this team is going places.

It has been great to see how competitive we've been with our best players: Beno, Artest, Martin, Miller, missing serious time.  I really think we have a shot tonight against the Lakers as they have an ungodly time trying to slow down Beno.  Hopefully Martin plays and I think we can end this season with a bang.

Marty Mac
I notice that in his flight of superlative praise, Douby doesn't get a mention.

Nothing against the kid, not even the unibrow, (sorry, KK) but if he can't be trusted as a point guard (and I think that we all agree that the Douby at PG experiment was a failure), does he have a future here?

He hasn't shown anything except that he's a streaky shooter. He couldn't stay in front of Tony Parker last night if his life depended on it. He makes bad decisions and is prone to turn-overs.

I'll grant that he hasn't had a lot of minutes this season, but he's had his chances and not done much with them. I haven't seen much progress in his development this year, at all.

What do you all think? Am I missing something?

Hmm I tend to agree with you.
I really think at this point he is like a poor man's Eddie House.  He should just practice his shooting and hopefully he can become a streaky shooter who comes off the bench.

not a PG
Douby is simply not a PG - he does not have the instincts or the skill-set. The guy constantly dribbles with his head down; he does not see the court; and he can't stay in front of anybody. I am hoping the Douby experiment is over. He is, at best, a catch and shoot role-player player on a team that plays a run 'n' gun style. His saving grace is that he can certainly shoot well when his feet are set and his shoulders square. And guys that can shoot usually find a way of sticking around in this league, which just doesn't have a ton of great shooters.

I'm not a fan from a basketball perspective. Maybe, he will turn me around next season. I wish him well. Seems like a great kid.

Definitely not a PG
However, he'd be a great player on the Warriors. I've said it a few times but its true. He's quick and he can shoot the ball. If he played for the Warriors they'd encourage him to do just that, be quick and shoot the ball. It'd probably help his confidence and he could become a star there. Then we'd all be regretting that he was ever traded (ala Gerald Wallace).

I never have ever regretted
Gerald's departure at any time.

Ditto
I wasn't a fan while he was here, and while I applaud his development as a player, it would never have happened here, and he's still not the caliber of player I pine for.

Now Gasol, him I pined for until he went to LA. Tell me we wouldn't have made the play-offs if we'd landed Gasol.

I didn't want the playoffs
What's the point of being bounced out in the first round?

As far as G-Dub I liked him, up to a point, but felt his course had run true. I tip his hat, but again I point out this very fact. Has Gerald Wallace ever proven to be a major, or even successful part, of a 500 or better team?
