Game 82 at Evil L.A., Actual Game Thread
Here is an actual game thread for the visit to Mordor this evening. If you haven not already, please do stop in the Beat L.A. thread to add to our army of spirit.
Since this is last night I'll be hearing Grant Napear's voice until October, how about a parting photo? Travis Mays Hayes, who lives in China, took Peaches to the Great Wall during a snowstorm. (Big ups to his brother for ordering the shirt and smuggling it over.)

Win this one for Peaches, fellas. Win it for us!

E MUSS IN DA HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!
CB just called me. He is in the Luna Loca bar. And.....E Muss is sitting right behind him!!! Getting krunked up no doubt. I dared CB to buy Muss a shot of vodka. I'm sure when he gets home he will report.

No seriously guys
I can hardly contain myself. Musselman was at Luna Loca in Danville. He wore a Padres sweatshirt and came up to my shoulder. He said that B Diddy is DONE in GS, they held him out to avoid injury so they could trade him. He heard this from “a player, he knew”. Keep in mind that it might be Kenny Thomas.
I wish I could have asked him a bunch of questions runing through your mind… Can I buy you a drink? Can I call you a cab? Can I get you a booster seat? Can you refund me my $180 I spent last season on League Pass? How were the strip clubs that you went out to with Bibby and Artest? Is Bibby a Tripod too? Is that why you predictably ran plays for him during crunch time? Did I miss anything?
Unfortunately I couldn’t ask him all these questions because, A. I wasn’t drunk yet B. I am chicken shit. C. He left before the first quarter ended.
AK47, SN13, B52, and K9. One guns, Another runs, He fits, while it licks.

Actually, I found it refreshing...
I was annoyed at first, then when they restored the audio without the commentary, I remembered why I like going to games. The sound of the sneakers, hearing the actual freakin’ players, the in-arena noise…you know.
I have no idea how TV went so wrong. If we’re watching basketball, don’t we want to hear the game? Not the announcers, but the frikkin’ game! I don’t mind occassional commentary and updates, but when the hell did announcers think they had to fill every second of action with the sound of their own voice over the sound of the game?
God bless you, Corliss. You always played as though you knew how expensive my tickets were. -section214

Unfortunately, being in So Cal, I'm stuck with the regular Lakers announcers. I envy you all.

FSN question?
FSN does that on purpose? That rocks!

Yeah, it’s part of their Prime Ticket coverage. Unfortunately, I think the Kings are stuck with Comcast Sports Net, which means we’re stuck listening to Peaches at home games, and which also means I can’t get an HD feed of any home game with DirecTv.
Lousy Comcast.

Sweet Lord
Quincy Douby's jump shot going through the rim is thread through a needle. I think it's safe to say he's finally finding his stroke.
Beno...not so much...

We'd probably raise enough to buy 17,317 "peaches t-shirts" by the end of next year
Help Save the Sonics!
We Miami Heat fans have put together a proposed plan of action here: http://thesouthfloridafan.blogspot.com/2008/04/how-to-help-seattle-keep-their-sonics.html
It involves this:
IMPLORE EVERY NBA TEAM BLOG TO POST THE ADDRESS OF THEIR OWNERS. IN ADDITION, LETTERS SHOULD INCLUDE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:
"As a form of protest, we vow to boycott any game next season in which the Oklahoma City Sonics play, whether it be in our arena or watching it on television."
Spread this around as much as you can. It's going to take the other teams to prevent this from happening. Let's save the Sonics!

So SB Nation 2.0 means...
We get spammed (even if for a good cause) from other teams?
Muff rules. http://vegaskings.blogspot.com

Thank God the refs love Speed Racer too!
I was cursing every time Kobe pulled that move, then I thought about Kev and quit.

i was textin that to my “friends” (laker fan). it was funny til they brought up how they get to play this weekend
It was a good game, Both teams played hard. Both teams played hard, my man. Both teams played hard. Both teams played hard, God bless and good night.
No Munchies from Douby
Seriously, seeing Quincy hit that runner and one made my night. I couldn’t help but laugh my head off just thinking of those pompous Staples Center fans being bummed they missed out on 2 dollars worth of tacos.

this redesign
needs a tone down, some. Looks like they hired a college kid and told him “web 2 point 0” and he went to town. The freaking right submenu is almost as big as the center? And where’s my auto-resizing screen? Huh? These margins are tiny! You realize how much scrolling we’re going to have to do now just to get though one of pookey’s diaries? Excuse me, “fan posts.”
I like the features; I’m not saying the drive is worse. Just means I wouldn’t by a benz in metallic orange. I guess technically it looks better, but no one is here because of how the site looks; it’s all just really distracting. Ill give it a couple days, but soon I might just riot if I don’t get used to it. I mean it’s all css based, so couldn’t be too hard to tone down some.
and while I’m ranting, might as well hate on ESPN. I just watched the sportscenter recap; they showed no productive plays from the kings. it was all “oh, oh, the lakers are awesome.” now, whilst I don’t totally abhor the lakers, i would appreciate some kings highlights, considering i just sat for fifteen minutes through your mindless garbage and analysis (three minutes on Tiger’s friggin knee – great guys, thanks for the insight-less newsflash), can I get at least ten seconds of a King doing something other than losing the ball? Please? No? Son of a…
and what’s with… oh. ran out of things to complain about. Don’t you hate it when that happens?

oh, duuuuude
You can select wide margins at the left. Sweeeet. I retract my previous statement. Now, on to read pookey’s latest post.

Sir how dare you say say my Diaries are un-readable?
I can still use paragraphs dude! And I think this format was changed for the sake of change. I think it will be good for people to see how many views a particular diary receives, like say when Travis Mays Hays writes about the Chinese Hoop Association for instance. Other than that, with maybe the inclusion of the picture’s, and the fan shots, I don’t really think there was much improved. For the record I could care less how many people read anything I write. It’s only written for the willing to understand often difficult and little known subjects. I’m not sure everyone is ready for that type of opinion.

i must make one thing clear
No Lamas were harmed during the making of this photo. Pookey I will be following CBA basketball much more closely during the 2008-2009 season, that is if I can find someone who can tell me if my city will actually have a team. If a summer league exists I will cover that, and possibly even try out for it.
For now, I will be at the season opener for the Shanghai Eagles professional baseball team this saturday. From what I can tell they play in a Chinese league that acts as a minor league for the Japanese professional league. Should be some weaksauce baseball, but that is for another blog.

Travis
I am assuming you’re an American who is capable of speaking Chinese? If that’s the case I would love to read about the trials and tribulations of your CBA experience. I look forward to what you have to say.
