With the number one draft pick the Sacramento Kings select.....
....Michael Beasley!
Let's keep our fingers crossed because the odds of this actually happening are slim to none. A strong power forward like Beasley would be Sacramento's missing piece of the puzzle to contend with the other elite teams in West next year. A starting 5 of Udrih, K-Mart, Artest, Beasley and Miller would be quite a force to mess with. On top of that, we'd have Garcia and Salmons there for backup!

That's beautiful
How many clicks did that take?
Also, a screenshot like this is a good use of the new FanShot feature—you can post just a photo, link, YouTube, or quote in those. I’ll be testing some out this morning.

yup
i was wondering the same thing. it took me probably around 50 or so for the kings to pop up #1. but it does show that it’s possible!

we should start hawes over miller next year....
i know that seems blasphemous being that this site crowned Miller oas our MVP for this year. But as much as Hawes’ game needs work on D, Miller is even worse. Plus Hawes has some real pretty scoring moves.
But besides that…i been saying this under my other name (ThaShizzz)....we just need to draft Kevin Love. Seriusly….
Also im tempted to say we should keep Anthony Johnson over Beno. But i don’t think i’ll go that far…..

The fact that
Miller was the MVP here says more about the team and the injuries this year than it does the love for Brad. My bet is that almost everyone here would hope that Hawes comes to camp next year and earns the starting job.

Sure
Can alway start Miller at the 4 if we want too.
Regarding Love: For me it comes down to how tall is he really. If he’s really only 6’8” I’ll take a pass. He’ll end up being an undersized PF like Corliss, Sheldon, Marcus Fizer etc, who’s too small to play inside and too slow to play outside. If he’s closer to 6’10” he can probably be ok. But I think we really need someone who is a little more athletic to fill that spot.

Agreed
The bad news is that it’s not a PF rich draft. Beasley, Love and Arthur look to be about it for top tier.

only three in your top tier?
What would you call it if you had five? Gosh, those three alone make it pretty deep in terms of PF – it’s SG that it’s lean. After Eric Gordon, who?
The Kings would be idiots to draft any of those above before Derrick Rose. In fact, I’m not sure which of the lottery teams should draft Beasley before Rose.
Also, to address an earlier question, when was Corliss unable to play inside in the NBA?

Clarification
By top tier I meant guys that might go in the top 20, and I suppose you could add a 4th guy at PF if you figure Anthony Randolph to grow into that position. Last year four PF’s went in the top 9 (Horford, Jianlian, Wright and Noah).
As far a SG is concerned, Gordon, Nicolas Batum and Chase Budinger all figure to go in the top 20, and maybe Chris Douglas-Roberts and Brandon Rush, too.
Of course I would select Rose before any of these guys (although Beasley would need serious consideration). Unfortunately, he will be long gone by the time we pick unless we get insanely lucky on ping pong ball day.

i thought the point of the exercise
was to figure who the Kings would pick with the No. 1.
I think I’m with you on the PF deal, but at SG I don’t think either of Batum or Budinger is very interesting. They’ll go in the top 20 because some teams need SG that much.
Anyhow, do you (or anyone) really think that PF is the Kings big weakness? I think it’s PG by a mile. They don’t even have one on the roster anymore (or at least, none signed for next year). PG is deep in this draft, but below Rose and Bayless it’s hard to find someone special. Would Russell Westbrook be good enough?

I'd rather fix the front line if someone thought Arthur was the best available asset
That’s all down the line though. The only reason I was ever opposed to Spencer Hawes was that if his best case was Brad Miller I had no hope he could develop into a true C which is what the KIngs needed. Apparently having seen the guy some this year that fear is alleviated.
I don’t care if this draft, though, is PG rich or not. I’d rather have a solid player @ PF who can block shots & rebound & play post defense. If that’s Arthur great. If not that’s fine too.

PF vs. PG
Power forward is the black hole, considering that we have over $23 million invested there and Mikki Moore gives us about $5 million worth of productivity and Williams gives us maybe another $1 million. The rest is “flush” money.
For the short term, I would prefer Arthur and a re-signing of Beno. However, if the Kings used the pick on Westbrook I’d be OK with that, too.

I want the player with the best potential and the best chance or realizing it
if i had to pick to Westbrook or Arthur.
