No Ron Please
I hope Ron doesn't play. Sure, we may lose but at least we get to look at the young guys more AND the ball movement should be much better. Not to mention, when Artest is out, Martin is the go-to guy. It's like an early look into the future of the Kings...

Dalt
I would love an explanation on what makes Ron Artest so special that a high return is the only necessary way to part with him. I don't get it.

(P.S. I'm not picking on you Dalt. I'm just wondering if somebody can explain to how keeping Artest makes sense for even next season. Screw the long term.)

Cause Ron Artest is in the news more than
any other Kings player. Combined with the fact in every article he is mentioned as "Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest", the Kings see Artest as a way to stay relevent, based on the metric of returned Google results.

It's simple, really. It's all about increasing the Kings.com page ranking.

I don't Understand
All I was saying Pookey, is that I was glad that Ron was not playing on Tuesday. I prefer the Kings without Ron. I would prefer that we trade him but because he is going to be in the last year of his contract, I doubt that will be possible. I hope they don't sign him long-term.

Your comment didn't strike me as Pro-Ron
I've just been waiting for that end of things, and I've yet to see it, that is unless the usual stuff is brought up. Everytime I try to bring it up it just brings up a frustrating round of crap, and the original question gets ignored.

By the way
Am I the only one that thinks that in a couple years, Martin could average 30+ per game?

30...
Depends on what sort of team this turns into. A running team sure? But that might not be in the team's best interest; Beno is better in the halfcourt than in transition, and Hawes might be as well.

Err
I meant "A running team? Sure."

I think without Artest next year, Martin score 26+ regardless.

30...
What about an imagination of Kevin with C-Webb (in his prime)?

  • C-Webb inside, defense on him, Kevin free outside (along with a good distributor of the ball - Beno)
  • C-Webb in the post, defense on him, Kevin cutting inside

I do not know if this is possible in the next future, but it might be possible even in half-court game (consider Rip Hamilton achieving 20+ in an ultra-down-tempo style with lots of other scorers).

At least
We'll have one distributor in the game, even if Miller's out. That means somewhat decent ball movement.

But I think Martin will only average 30+ per game if he is willing to shoot more and/or doesn't have a teammate who thinks he's the guy who should be taking 20 shots a night.

the best
injury report i've heard all year

I agree
With the above comments regarding Martin averaging 30 points per game. If Artest (or some other black hole) is on the team, Martin may never get enough looks to average that much. However, if he keeps improving and we bring in a player (or two or three) that fits in well with Speedracer, he could end up seeing the ball enough. Right now Martin averages 23.7 points on 15 shots. That's roughly 19 shots needed per game to average 30. Last year he needed just over 20 shots a game to average 30. In two years he could easily average 30 points per game by averaging 18 shots per game and that is not too high a number. His fellow shooting guards:

Joe Johnson: 18.4 shots per game, 21.8 ppg.
Kobe Bryant: 20.8 spg, 28.6 ppg (wow! Who would guess that Kobe shoots THAT much!?!? Don't everyone injure themselves raising their arms so fast...)
Ray Allen: 13.9 spg, 18 ppg
Dwyane Wade: 18.4 spg, 24.6 ppg
Tracy McGrady: 19.9 spg, 21.9 ppg
Michael Redd: 17.6 spg, 23.3 ppg
Vince Carter: 17.2 spg, 21.6 ppg
Jason Richardson: 17.8 spg, 21.3 ppg
Jamal Crawford: 17.7 spg, 20.8 ppg
Kevin Durant: 16.9 spg, 20 ppg (he mostly plays SG)
Manu Ginobili: 13.4 spg, 19.8 ppg
Brandon Roy: 16.1 spg, 19.3 ppg
Richard Hamilton: 14.5 spg, 17.7 ppg

Anyway, as you can see, many of these guys are shooting at or near 18 shots per game. Only Ray Allen, Rip and Manu shoot much lower and that's basically because they are not the focal point on offense. If Martin becomes the "main man" for the Kings (which I pray he does) and he keeps on improving, he could be able to reach 30+ ppg at around 17-19 spg.

He can shoot, and he looks great in a suit. Hey, everybody - It's REGGIE TIME!
