TZ Minus 4 - Thursday Footnotes
Marty Mac chimes in regarding Ron Artest. MacNeal has Artest at $8.45 million for the coming year (ditto Hoopshype), while nearly everyone else (Amick, shamsport, etc.) has him at $7.4 million.

Checked in on the Utah Jazz SB site this morning
They seem pretty angry about last night’s game and the “biased” officiating. Two points on this issue:
- First, although the Lakers are a common enemy for Jazz and Kings fans, seeing complaints from Jazz fans about officiating would make a LOLZcat cry. Malone/Stockton, anyone?
- Second, if Mehmet Okur could hold his rebounding position against Pau Gasol twice in the last 90 seconds, instead of getting pushed into the first row, the Jazz likely win that game. Everyone do me a favor, LOOK AT PAU GASOL. That’s not muscle tone he’s sporting – there’s no excuse to have that guy push you out of position for the two most important defensive rebounds of the season.
I’ll agree, the officiating was pretty poor, but the Jazz had every opportunity to win that game. If Okur and Boozer take control of the boards in the last few minutes, the Jazz win that game by 5.

Yeah, I don't know why Memo didn't go up for the board when Gasol got the putback.
He’s been a beast on the boards for the last month. Either he was trying to draw the foul (I don’t know why), or he really was thrown off. Either way, the refs called the fouls pretty evenly. It was the ones they didn’t call that drove me insane.
They had their shot to win. Many opportunities to go ahead, but they just couldn’t do it.

Interesting
TrueHoop picked up the Howard/Artest trade poll (which is in part why we approaching the 600 vote level). So one would assume that we’re picking up voters that are Mavericks fans, Kings fans, Artest fans, Howard fans. It’s tracking at almost 2/1 in favor. Could this be one of those trade rumors that both sides like?

They're not in super favor at Mavs Moneyball
But the poll is leading in favor of the trade as of 4:15 pm PST on Saturday May 17th.
