rookie starters
Say Sac wins the lottery today or even gets the 2nd pick, will Beasly / Rose start? How about the third pick, the twelfth? Which players fit the needs and fill the positions for Sac that you'd like to see start regardless of rookie mistakes? For example if there is a mature, strong body, "feel for the game" type power forward at pick 12, or hell #42, why shouldn't Theus let 'em start and grow on the job? Oh, right, because of Moore, Shareef, and K9!! The hydra!! It seems like you never know how a player might blossom when given the full opportunity. If Sac is always going to "let young players develop" on the bench, they'll never have a ROY candidate. Isn't this the year they should let a young, atheletic stud get major minutes at the 4. For example, if Joey Dorsey (the consensus most defensive, rebounding, shot blocking 4 in the draft?) falls to 42- which I don't think will happen....why not let him do his thing? Sure he'll probably foul out alot and may not score, but if he averages 10 rebs. and 2 blks. it'd be just what Sac needs. Who else might start? Aurthur, Speights, McGee?

It depends on who stays as well. No rookie PG - not even Rose - will start over Beno on Day 1, if Beno is resigned. Beasley would start at PF, I think, regardless of trades. I can’t see any other rookies starting on Day 1, though, barring injury or a Miller trade.
Why not?
I agree, Udrih should start at point while Rose, well now it’s Augustin/Westbrook, etc. develop off the bench….but why should Moore, Shareef, K9 start (barring any trades of course)? All last year, oh wait, for the last however many years, Sac fans have been dying for a young, agile, defensive-minded big. If Petrie gets one, he better!, what’s the harm in letting him start his career as a NBA starter…as someone with the confidence of the GM, coach and fans…and as a ROY candidate with his chance to start proving his worth immeadiately. Moore/Sheldon can back him up with as many minutes as needed. In fact, Moore seems like the perfect veteran & positive bench player to back up & help develop a youngster. If rookie crashes and burns ok, then let him come off the bench for a while. I guess I’m not as into a strict starting lineup all year long anyway. Of course, this is all based on the fact that I hope Sac drafts a PF who has promise to, and shows in camp that he can Defend And Rebound -not so much score, pass (I know, Perie’s favorite is a passing big man). Defensive intensity and rebounding effort are things that certain players should be able to do at any age and with less all around NBA experience, like Horford this year for example. Thanks for the response Ziller, but aren’t there any players you forsee at #12, 42, 43 that might back up my point? Just hopeful I guess.
Miller-starter over Hawes for now.
Udrih-starter over ??Augustin, Westbrook, etc. for now.
Martin-start.
Artest-ooooh, what if Ron let Salmons start and led the bench mob?!
ANY credence to Speights, Aurthur, Dorsey, etc. as starter?
Not at #12
I think that Arthur, McGee, Speights, or any of those other guys are going to be no more developed for the mental and physical grind of the NBA season than Spencer Hawes was. I’m in favor of a slow, steady approach with these guys. They have to earn their minutes, win the playing time away from Miller and Moore. That being said, I hope that the player would work his way into the rotation a month or two faster than Hawes did. At some point you do have to get those guys on the floor for some on the job training.

True, true
Thanks for the well stated, opposing viewpoint. I didn’t think I’d be persuaded to alter my opinion (slightly), but your take makes alot of sense.
Horford is probably an exception. For some reason (just slightly informed opinion) I see Speights and Dorsey as more physically and maybe mentally mature than Hawes and thus more ready for the NBA grind and more able to role play: Defend And Rebound. Hawes could’ve gotten into the rotation sooner and deeper in my opinion, but you’re right, he has to earn the playing time away from Miller who had a good year. Fewer long jumpers and more inside presence would be great from Hawes this year, that should win him alot of minutes at the 4? or 5. Moore’s minutes should be easier to win over. He plays hard and I like his enthusiasm but his production could be surpassed (I hope) by a motivated rookie.
And Spencer’s knee surgery didn’t help—he missed the entire training camp and didn’t really get a chance to show Theus anything until he got some minutes.
I feel confident in saying 2 things
One Spencer isn’t Patrick O’Bryant, and Two, he isn’t Todd Fuller.
No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on

Wait, that doesn’t make any sense. Woooo! Sweeep! Sweeep! Big that rebounds and defends. What the hell am I saying.
Bring the rooks. I love the rooks. Stuckey is a fiend, Rondo is awesome, Maxiell is not a rook but he eats babies. Did anyone hear Van Gundy talkign about the SAT???
“I… R… E… That’s an SAT word, see, I took the SAT – who took yours Marc Jackson?”
and MJ had no reply. Hilarious. If anyone sees this clip on youtube, let me know please. What else can I ramble on about? Oh yeah… more rookie PGs! Interesting time for young pgs… why the resurgence? Is it because of an increase in basketball training? What happened 20 years ago for mothers to star giving birth to PGs. Maybe a change in basketball training and Nutrition info? THe AAU system forcing kids to decide their NBA career at age 11 before they hit puberty and find out how tall they’re going to be so if they stay short then eff it, go from SF to PG cuz kid’s been playing 6 hours of basketball a day for the last six years even though he ain’t in High School yet? I don’t think the Agents have that much pull they can force coaches to develop PGs cuz they sense a need in the marker. Idk… something to chew on, yeah? Oh yeah, that relates to the VanGundy thing cuz right after he said something along the lines of (so, as close as an exact quote as I can make it, but its not scripture): “I know how you high-priced Division I players get everything handed to you” and shit got awkward. Foolish statement for him to make on national television especially during the OJ Mayo broo ha ha, but hell, I love it.
Amir Johnson needs to be unleashed. wtf. Stuckey + Amir. That’ll keep the Pistons from playing half-assed. Notice what happened when Billups was brought in late in the fourth quarter? Dude pushed. Dude effed up, yeah, but he was trying. Why? THe fear of losing by 15 instead of by 8? No – frigging Stuckey playing half the fourth showing he could replace his 60 million dollar role. That’ll put the fear of God into a player…. sheeeeeeeit, that’s what ‘Sheed needs. Stick Amir out there next to McDyess and let the baller bang. I mean, if Maxiell is thowin floaters over KG, why can’t AJ get some love. And it’s not even like I’m on his jock, but young guys need to play.
Cuz they got legs. And knees. And are too ignant to know any better than dropping three bombs in the ECF with no shame and respect fo they elders. Jannero Pargo anyone?
People need to shutup about the Spurs. Haters on the champions, that’s all they is. TImmy D is the shizznit, Manu is epicly hilarious, and how can you not love a short guy who can’t shoot being the cornerstone for a champion? Bruce Bowen got no talent he starts in the league, Robert Horry made a career and got 7 rings out of some lucky shots, Fabio is the ugliest player in the game – hell, they get “younger” by signing a thirty year old player. And they win. Lots. Get on the bandwagon, fools, its time for a Spurs repeat. Then Celtics lose to the Lakers next Year. Then Pistons bag a last one with Amir starting next to Sheed. Then Blazers win two in a row (yeah, I said it). I just called the next five champions, place your bets. Thank me later.
Yeah, that’s right… I’m rooting for a Spurs-Pistons Finals, cuz that’s good basketball among the teams that really wanna win – proven champions. Not that bullshit Jemele Hill put up that I can’t stnad reading… legitimizing her arguments cuz that means the NBA ain’t pullin strings. Heck if they is, heck if they ain’t…. the way people on Kobes rod, I don’t think anyone would care if it is setup. But daaaaaamn, fool…. KG ain’t as loved anymore. I even hate him. Yankee Fans < Boston Fans < Hillary fans. Yeah, I brought politics into a basketball conversation. Sue me.
Lakers. Damn. If I thought their medical staff was any good, I’d bet they get the next two rings (nto sure how contracts would work to keep it going). PhilJack can win. Kobe can win. Farmar is brilliant, Sasha is overrated but serviceable, VladRad is weird but looks good with short hair, an Pau needs to shave. If Odom is better as a third wheel – imagine how could he’d be as a fourth wheel? Oh that’s right, it’ll never happen, cause Chris Mihm will now live through Bynum. That sucks.
What are they smoking in Phoenox? What are they huffing in Denver? Dudes need to get wit it. Each should have done the others coaching decision.
I will say this, and I will say it proud: Chicago does not deserve tha pick. I hate the fact that they got that pick. Miami at 2? I can deal. Seattle at 5? Awesome. Bulls at 1? Awwww, crap. If the choice wasn’t so obvious, I know they’d make the wrong decision. Plus, I’m not gonna lie… Rose, Wade, and signing Brand this off-season would’ve made the Heat relevant. And awesome. ohhhhhh yeeaaaaahhh.
Signing out, peacizzles my homebrizzles….
