Look for the Kings to draft D-League combo guard Mike Taylor with the 42nd or 43rd pick in the draft tomorrow night, if he’s still on the board at that point. Geoff Petrie has always been a fan of having a combo guard he can throw in off the bench—he hasn’t really had a quality scoring option in that mold since Bobby Jackson. Sacramento’s experiments with Ronnie Price and most recently Quincy Douby haven’t worked out thus far.

While it is true that picking 42 and 43 will rarely net you an impact player, taking Mike Taylor seems stupid. I see no real upside with him. These stats are about the best you will probably get with him imo and that is 3-4 years from now. Those stats in the D-League are just average and in that league only phoenomenal stats are worth looking at. For instance look at Kelenna Azubuike’s stats in the D-League. He had great stats in the D-League but only averaged 15.8 points per 40 minutes at Golden State last year. Also Justin Williams was in the D-League and put up these numbers. The D-League is a league full of players that were NOT drafted out of college so the competition is about the same as the NCAA except you won’t find a Greg Oden or Derrick Rose in there. My system scores Mike Taylor as a player with 12th Man/Career Reserve potential. With the early 40’s pick I would much rather go for players with some upside such as Sean Singletary, Richard Hendrix (this seasons Paul Millsap), Nathan Jawai, Reggie Williams, George Hill, Joey Dorsey, Walter Sharpe, David Padgett, DJ White, Shawn James or Kyle Weaver. Most of those players should be available when the Kings draft in the early forties. None except Hendrix and Singletary look like possible NBA starters IMO but I don’t see it from Taylor. Of course, if Petrie really is high on Taylor than personally, I will be fine with it. I just won’t be getting my hopes up one bit.
He can shoot, and he looks great in a suit. Hey, everybody - It's REGGIE TIME!
