Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto = Gift to Sacramento?

Like a kid waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve, your humble Sactown reporter Mucho Moss is diligently posting this at 1:00 AM.

Of course, by the time you read this paragraph the word will be all over the street that, (according to MSNBC and Yahoo), the Pacers have indeed agreed to that rumored deal sending Jermaine O’Neal to the Raptors for T.J. Ford, Rasho Nesterovic, and the 17th pick.

Meanwhile, DraftExpress has updated their mock accordingly and currently have the Pacers taking Kosta Koufos (!) with the 11th pick and Robin Lopez with the 17th.

Bottom line: they're predicting that, having secured Ford, Indiana will leave DJ Augustin on the board for the Kings, and Petrie will quickly rush to the podium to snag the little lightning bug point guard from Texas.

This of course is in line with what TZ speculated yesterday. Makes sense to me too; but of course there's no doubt more trades, rumors and general craziness yet to unfold as the day progresses.

Stay Tuned!

Nets-Blazers Swap

Expect the Nets to take Augustin and if Indiana takes Koufos, then Jerryd Bayless could fall to the Kings at no. 12.

BOOK IT!

Nets pick before Pacers

I get your meaning, but the Nets (#10) pick before the Pacers (#11), and thus are not reliant on any decision that Indy makes at #11

Did you ever

play that game with your dog where you dangle a piece of food in front of him, only to move it away just before he was able to get a hold of it? Me neither.

Anyways, that is basically what this trade is. Everyone’s eyes lit up when they saw this trade, since the supposed barrier to us acquiring one of the PGs we covet had just been removed.

The asshole owner in this case is Portland. They have the 13th pick, the 27th pick, 3 second rounders, and a host of somewhat valuable players they could send off in a trade. They could swap with NJ if Gallinari, Love, and Lopez are off the board, and failing that they could swap with Indiana.

Yeah

If the Blazers want DJ they will get him. I predict we won’t get one of the top PGs at 12

Question

So this mock has the Kings getting Bayless, and Speights going 25th to Houston. If that’s how things work out, what about this proposal (after July 1)....

Artest & Douby (+2nd Rounder if necessary) for Bobby Jackson, Aaron Brooks, & #25 (Speights)

The Kings would instantly have two PGs on the roster (I’m counting B-Jax as contract filler in this scenario, the Kings could even take Rafer Alston instead of B-Jax if Houston preferred that, but I doubt it).

The Kings get a PG and a Big in the draft, and open up playing time for Salmons & Garcia in the process.

This seems relatively on par with the Klieza/1st deal GP tried to pull off with Denver (and he coveted Brooks last year), so if a guy’s there at #25 that he likes I see this as similar value (meaning GP’d pull the trigger). The question then becomes, would Houston?
