Chad Ford have us drafting Jerryd Bayless in the first and Mike Taylor and Devon Hardin in the second round. If this happens on draft day, I would be one happy Kings fan.

I would be beyond happy

If Bayless slipped to us. But really now, would teams pass on Bayless to get Augustin instead? And would Kevin Love really slip to 9?

I will eat two hats if Bayless falls to #12. I would seriously be beside myself with joy.

I have to agree. Even Ford’s second round picks would be great. I know Taylor has done some dumb things (off the court), but he has way to much upside to pass on here.

Okay...

...the man is just listing names at random now. Not that I wouldn’t be thrilled if he turned out to be right.

Question

So this mock has the Kings getting Bayless, and Speights going 25th to Houston. If that’s how things work out, what about this proposal (after July 1)....

Artest & Douby (+2nd Rounder if necessary) for Bobby Jackson, Aaron Brooks, & #25 (Speights)

The Kings would instantly have two PGs on the roster (I’m counting B-Jax as contract filler in this scenario, the Kings could even take Rafer Alston instead of B-Jax if Houston preferred that, but I doubt it).

The Kings get a PG and a Big in the draft, and open up playing time for Salmons & Garcia in the process.

This seems relatively on par with the Klieza/1st deal GP tried to pull off with Denver (and he coveted Brooks last year), so if a guy’s there at #25 that he likes I see this as similar value (meaning GP’d pull the trigger). The question then becomes, would Houston?

I brought up a simlar scenario

a few weeks ago and just rehashed a conversation with a houston fan a few minutes ago. What we talked about was an Artest for Aaron Brooks and Bobby Jackson trade, to which he said “that would to be too one sided towards the Rockets for the Kings to do”. I, personally would love this trade and if we included Speights plus our draft picks would be thrilled to death by the outcome of the whole thing. Also, he said that in Houston they are shopping the pick and people are talking about Ron Artest but seem to think he is already gone to the Lakers in the Odom trade.

I didn't mean

include our draft picks in the trade. I mean’t the trade plus who we got in the draft would go a long way in reshaping the Kings.

As a Kings fan

I would love Bayless. And wouldn’t it be a fun five minutes while we sit paralyzed with fear over the prospect of GP passing on Bayless for Roy Hibbert.

I hate you Section

Why must you plant the seeds of insanity? If Bayless falls that’s all I’m going to be thinking about now.

Thanks, Jerk.

I remember

listening to that broadcast on the radio while watching the draft on tv. The announcement pre-pick by Geoff absolutely killed me! My brother, aka out of service pervis, was headed to Syracuse the following year for college, and we almost drowned ourselves in folsom lake that day.
