Livingston

Star-divide

It was a bit hidden in Amick's post yesterday on Beno but I'm surprised there hasn't been more interest in the follwoing line:

"The Clippers aren't expected to exercise the team option on point guard Shaun Livingston and are believed to have strong interest in Udrih."

Yes, Livingston has some serious injury history...but they've been freak injuries.  When right, the guy is a true pass-first point guard who plays lock-down defense.  And he's only 21 years old.  Personally, I'd much rather take a flier on Livingston than re-up Udrih.  Beno is a decent point guard but he'll never be a top 10 point.  Livingston has that potential.  With the Kings at least a few years away from serious contention, why not take that risk?

A backcourt of 6-7 Livingston and 6-7 Martin...both long and athletic, would be a handful.  And a point guard who can actually deliver the ball where it needs to be...when it needs to be there would make a huge difference for guys like Martin, Hawes, and Cisco.

Count me in.

I’ve been a fan of Shaun for a while, would love to see him in Sac. Geoff, make it happen!

At this point

there is no evidence that Livingston will even be ready for the season, as he has just been cleared for drills. Back to back games (and there are a lot of them) may be out of the question at this point. There is also a question as to whether he has retained his quickness, which is the primary staple of his game (it sure as heck isn’t his perimeter shot). Some think that he is destined to become more of a wing player.

I’d invest $1-2 million a year for a couple of years, tops.

Livingston is an un-restricted FA though--that's something that may be worth taking a flier on

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on

word

I also vote the kings give him 5-6 million for three years, but I also acknowledge that within a year, we’ll prolly be wishing he’d medically retire like Shreef. But, in the miraculous off-chance he becomes just what he was, it’d be a crazy sick steal that’ll live in infamy and people will knock the Clippers even more.

$5-6 million for 3 years?

That’s crazy talk.

Here are Livingston’s career stats. $5-6 million a year? Really?

5-6 million for the entire three years

so, like 1-2 million a year for three years. Sorry for the confusion. If he’s better, at 2 million he’d be a crazy sick steal. At 6 million, he’d just be worthy pickup.

I’m crazy, yes. But 5-6 million a year for Shaun Livingston minus a knee is pure stupid. Agreed. Though, I fault you not, considering I was just talking about signing Kwame Brown.

That deal seems reasonable if the 3rd year is a team option

Hmm.

I can’t believe I forgot about how severe it really is… I take back my previous comment.

not sure about livingston

its hard to have confidence in a player that suffered an injury who many have apparently deemed the worst sports knee injury they have ever seen :(
