Sactown Royalty Draft Open Thread IV

According to ESPN Radio

The Clippers are now picking at #4 and the Sonics at #7 thanks to a swap that also includes the Clippers 1st round pick for next year (lottery protected).

Also, they are reporting that the Nets are set to send Richard Jefferson to the Bucks for Bobby Simmons and Yi Jianlian. No swap of picks here but that might (a) change the Bucks’ plans to draft Joe Alexander and (b) remove New Jersey as a potential move up target for Portland.

Nice

Info Section. I think the clips got aggresive and want their hometown boy Westbrook. Maybe all the news about the Sonics or possibly the Blazers wanting Westbrook shook this up?

seriously?

Richard Jefferson >>>>>>> Bobby Simmons and Yi Jianlian. wtf is going on there? They must be looking to move Carter too, then, because why all the youth with one Superstar? Carter to the Warriors for Wright, the Pick, the exception? Blah, that won’t happen.

honestly I like the trade a lot for the Nets. They’re trying to blow it up and Yi still has a boatload of potential, and now they’re in a lot better shape to get LeBron in two or three years. I don’t think you can get much better for Jefferson, who’s a solid third guy but won’t lead the Nets to the championship anytime soon (just with the makeup of the guys they have on the team right now). Obviously they wouldn’t resign him anyways, so why not get some value right now?

If you believe ESPN

then couldn’t it go something like this:

1. Chicago – Rose
2. Miami – Beasley
3. Minnesota – Mayo
4. L.A. Clips – Westbrook
5. Memphis – Gordon or Love
6. New York – Gallinari
7. Seattle – B. Lopez
8. Milwaukee – Bayless
9. Charlotte – Love or Gordon
10. New Jersey – Augustin (for Portland)
11. Indiana – Alexander
12. Sacramento – Randolph

Which would be disappointing for us …

well it's been 20 mins...

Here’s how I have it (subject to change or maybe just egregiously flawed).

1. Chi- Rose
2. Mia- Beasley
3. Minn- Mayo
4. LAC- Gordon
5. Mem- Love
6. NYK- Westbrook
7. Sea- B Lopez
8. Mil- Joe Alexander/Randolph
9. Cha- Randoph/Alexander
10. NJN- Gallinari
11. Ind- Augustin
12. SAC- Bayless

Is this just rampant optimism?

by misterbrister on Jun 26, 2008 1:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have Gallinari 6th, and Westbrook 9th and Bayless 8th

If Augustin was about 3-4 inches taller than I’d be much more in favor of the Augustin pick.

But I guess CP3 played well in the NBA so why not?

even though...

Mil just paid $$$ to keep Mo Williams?

No it wouldn’t. I understand the need for a point guard but I rather we take Randolph over Augustin.

It would be for u

It would be disappointing

for anyone hoping to see our draft pick make a contribution this year. I’m fine if Randolph is the best guy left on the board for us, but I would have to think that he would be Reno (D-league) bound.

Right

I meant disappointing in that it didn’t fill an immediate need. Down the line it could certainly pay off. As I see it though, the Kings have no point guards under contract and it would be huge to pick up a guy like Bayless that has been projected as early as #4.

Bayless

I’d do nuts if we took Bayless. That’d be seriously a gift and a huge blunder by the teams above. We could probably even package Bayless and try and get Beasley

A new StR record

We just traded someone before we’ve even had the opportunity to draft him. I wish every day were draft day. What a country!

And now, for your pleasure section

I will draft Augustin and trade him in July with Artest and whatever else to Miami for Beasley, Blount and Riley’s hair gel…

This draft just got impossible to guess...

the bucks and the nets are reportedly trading high profile players right before the draft thus changing the dynamic/needs of each team… maybe.

by moproblemz on Jun 26, 2008 12:41 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Supposedly

its Richard Jefferson for Bobby Simmons and Yi. No mention of swapping picks.

by moproblemz on Jun 26, 2008 12:41 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Right

Mentioned in the 1st thread comment. No picks, but the fallout could impact who both the Bucks and New Jersey select.

so...

NJ would be looking at a swingman? and Bucks are looking at a PF again?

by misterbrister on Jun 26, 2008 12:49 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Bucks

I could see them taking Lopez or Love if either one was available at #8. New Jersey could now be looking at Gallinari or Alexander, but at this point it truly comes down to best player available.

Draft Express

Pretty lame if they can’t update their mock draft on the fly. They still have the Clips and Sonics in their original draft spots and have the Bucks taking Alexander, which now seems unlikely with Jefferson on board.

by coolcatreportdotcom on Jun 26, 2008 1:04 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Portland

I think they still hold the keys. If they trade up, you can probably forget a point guard, but it could mean someone like Alexander drops to us instead.

Of course, the Clippers usually surprise with a “Huh?” move, so maybe they will take Alexander at No. 4. LOL.

by coolcatreportdotcom on Jun 26, 2008 1:14 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

actually...

I heard the Clips were going to draft Olowokandi again, and hope that he plays better the second time

HAHAHA. Just trying to bring a little levity to what is most likely an angst-filled day for all of us.

by misterbrister on Jun 26, 2008 1:15 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

there's no way the kings will get Bayless

no one would take Augustin over him, which would be necessary…would they?

but seriously, as a Kings fan, I’ve learned through the school of (very) hard knocks to temper my expectations in situations like these; we’ll end up with an exciting prospect regardless. it just won’t be Bayless. (This is what’s called an anti-jinx. Its effectiveness is questionable at best.)

The idea is that Randolph (N.J.) and Koufos (Indy) move up. But N.J. did just get a power forward.

by Ziller on Jun 26, 2008 1:19 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

A Center then?

Maybe those two flip-flop, and NJ takes a C (Koufos) instead of a PF (Randolph) . . . with Indy taking whichever big is left of the two?

I really have no idea what I’m talking about.
