Offical Sactown Royalty Draft Open Thread

In lieu of losing myself in the spate of excellent FanPosts and FanShots today, let's open up the Open Thread now.

Discuss the picks, the draft, the trades, the rumors. Add links, insight, jokes, laments, poetry (no sestinas, please), pictures of your draft night set-up, recipes for queso. (I was supposed to go get tacos two hours ago! Damn you, Richard Jefferson!)

After the jump, a reminder of the community draft board.

Draft starts at 4:30 p.m. Pacific on ESPN. Kings expected to pick at roughly 5:30, depending on trades.

LET'S GO KINGS!

  1. Derrick Rose, Memphis

I have a funny forward who comes and goes all day,
sometimes he says he’s leaving and sometimes he wants to stay.
He changes tunes and drives us crazy as the minutes pass,
but today is draft day so I don’t care – hey Ron, please kiss my ass.

without seeing virtually any of these guys play

but just based on this site and Chad Ford and Hollinger…my wish list has changed a dozen times…but currently, it’s at

(1) Bayless

(2) Alexander/Augustin (tie)

(3) Hibbert, believe it or not

(4) Mario Chalmers

(5) Rob from Roseville

I like Rob from Roseville

But the question is – is he a winner? Does he have the intangibles that can drive this team to a championship?

If you look at his posting history, you might say yes. His performance getting picked to go to New York for the draft (losing to a GIRL) is giving me pause though.

I'm not sold on him...

He didn’t show anything against Westbrook, when they played twice this year. I admittedly didn’t watch much of U of A outside of them getting demolished by UCLA, but Bayless didn’t show much to get excited about in the few games I did see.

MIke Barrett, a Blazers announcer, says:

The one player who seems to be popping up everywhere in rumors today is New York’s David Lee. He WILL be moved today. The Knicks are trying to set themselves up to make a run at LeBron James, and Lee is their most valuable asset. I think he’d look great in a Blazer uniform, and it’s no secret that the Knicks want Portland’s pick at 13.

Seriously though, the sleeper could be Ajinca in the 1st round and someone like Malik Hairston in the 2nd.

Kings trade 12 for both Indiana picks

and draft Speights and Hibbert, keep Shelden and bring BOOM THO to sactown for comic relief. Along with Shawes, our frontline is set for the next 10 years. No point guards means Beno is guaranteed the starting spot – we sign him for the midlevel for five years, and trade Ron and the two picks to the Warriors for their pick and the exception, Kings stay under cap, and we draft CDR. Extend Frisco for four years at 3.5 mill. Pick up a PG next year.

That’s my (pipe) dream.

I hate Stephen A. Smith.

Let's hope not

Lopez is going next guaranteed

Augustin to either the Nets or Pacers at 11th.

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. It's simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get tangled, you tango on

you know, I’d take that. Hawes/Lopez is a pretty good frontcourt

I wouldn't mind...

If we could trade him later. Look at Beidrins trade stock at it’s peak.

Bucks make another pick that doesn't make any sense

Last year, they never even checked out Yi, they trade him for a SF in Jefferson and gut their PF spot, then pick up Alexander, another SF?

They forgot about the trade

In their defense, drafting is hard when you’re high

Mandarin?

I thought one of the benefits of them picking Alexander was that he could talk to Yi in Mandarin?

Yeah

That was my point. I don’t get it.

He’ll be great off the bench for them though. Guess they’re sticking with Charlie at the 4.
