Offical Sactown Royalty Draft Open Thread
In lieu of losing myself in the spate of excellent FanPosts and FanShots today, let's open up the Open Thread now.
Discuss the picks, the draft, the trades, the rumors. Add links, insight, jokes, laments, poetry (no sestinas, please), pictures of your draft night set-up, recipes for queso. (I was supposed to go get tacos two hours ago! Damn you, Richard Jefferson!)
After the jump, a reminder of the community draft board.
Draft starts at 4:30 p.m. Pacific on ESPN. Kings expected to pick at roughly 5:30, depending on trades.
LET'S GO KINGS!

- Derrick Rose, Memphis
- Michael Beasley, K-State
- O.J. Mayo, USC
- Jerryd Bayless, Arizona
- Kevin Love, UCLA
- Anthony Randolph, LSU
- Russell Westbrook, UCLA
- Eric Gordon, Indiana
- D.J. Augustin, Texas
- Joe Alexander, West Virginia
- Brook Lopez, Stanford
- Darrell Arthur, Kansas
- Danilo Gallinari, Italy
- Marreese Speights, Florida
- DeAndre Jordan, Texas A&M
- Roy Hibbert, Georgetown

who's joking?
give me weird cauliflower ears and a recently-hyphenated last name over slick handles or scoring prowess any day!
seriously though, the Kings’ national exposure would go way up when a kookoo “My Giant”-esque movie gets made about King Lorenzo.

I have a funny forward who comes and goes all day,
sometimes he says he’s leaving and sometimes he wants to stay.
He changes tunes and drives us crazy as the minutes pass,
but today is draft day so I don’t care – hey Ron, please kiss my ass.

kevin martin is sticks, but throws his stones like the best in the L,
and though they ate Douby, Shawes still needs Shelden muscle,
K-9 couldn’t fit in my Five, but I’ll give Mikki Moore a high five
Shreef needs to get that free ride, declare himself medically retired,
and lets not get into the troubles Ronnie has sired.
Brad-baby is six beers in and its still the pregame,
Cisco chilling with Theus, learning how to clench the abs so that they all stand out the same,
Petrie glad Lorenzen, Lue and Johnson are fired.
John Salmons wonderin when he’ll the festivities’ll start,
all of STR cussing Petrie as an old fart

without seeing virtually any of these guys play
but just based on this site and Chad Ford and Hollinger…my wish list has changed a dozen times…but currently, it’s at
(1) Bayless
(2) Alexander/Augustin (tie)
(3) Hibbert, believe it or not
(4) Mario Chalmers
(5) Rob from Roseville

I like Rob from Roseville
But the question is – is he a winner? Does he have the intangibles that can drive this team to a championship?
If you look at his posting history, you might say yes. His performance getting picked to go to New York for the draft (losing to a GIRL) is giving me pause though.

I'm not sold on him...
He didn’t show anything against Westbrook, when they played twice this year. I admittedly didn’t watch much of U of A outside of them getting demolished by UCLA, but Bayless didn’t show much to get excited about in the few games I did see.

MIke Barrett, a Blazers announcer, says:
The one player who seems to be popping up everywhere in rumors today is New York’s David Lee. He WILL be moved today. The Knicks are trying to set themselves up to make a run at LeBron James, and Lee is their most valuable asset. I think he’d look great in a Blazer uniform, and it’s no secret that the Knicks want Portland’s pick at 13.

He still has Bayless going to the Kings, however I’m not sure when v7.1 came out. This isn’t fair though, to play with my emotions like this. If the Kings get Bayless I’m going to Sh*t a brick. Then I’m going to burn down my house as an offering to The Geoff Petrie.

I like
Pierre Niles, the sophomore at Memphis. He’s listed at 310 lbs. but looked at least 400 during the National Championship. Maybe he could share some of his weight with the skeleton army…
Seriously though, the sleeper could be Ajinca in the 1st round and someone like Malik Hairston in the 2nd.

Kings trade 12 for both Indiana picks
and draft Speights and Hibbert, keep Shelden and bring BOOM THO to sactown for comic relief. Along with Shawes, our frontline is set for the next 10 years. No point guards means Beno is guaranteed the starting spot – we sign him for the midlevel for five years, and trade Ron and the two picks to the Warriors for their pick and the exception, Kings stay under cap, and we draft CDR. Extend Frisco for four years at 3.5 mill. Pick up a PG next year.
That’s my (pipe) dream.
