You've got to be joking
Their pity is like salt in my wounds. Even the freshly opened Game 6 wounds.

I don't want your pity
I want your draft pick(s).

Whatever
Doesn’t matter what Kings fans or Blazer fans felt about the draft at the time it happened or the morning after. What does matter is how good these players will be in a few years.
I think we’ve all repeatedly seen “can’t-miss” prospects do exactly that, and unheralded draft picks perform at a high level in the NBA.
Not to say I don’t like the position the Blazers have put themselves in, but these young players still have to go out and get the job done. And their coach needs to figure out how he’s going to get all this talent to mesh.

Agreed
For as bright as Portland’s future is, it is still the future, and they still have to leap frog a couple of teams just to get into the playoffs.

Yeah
And at least our draft picks have equal-sized legs.
How you like THEM apples?!?
by smgmatt on Jun 27, 2008 8:52 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Equal size
Just not as many – how many guys did they draft last night, 14?

Additionally
Did Pritchard really screw Petrie here? Did Petrie have any desire to do anything other than pick Jason Thompson with the #12 pick in the draft?

Someone
mentioned yesterday – imagine the reaction had Bayless been on the board and we still selected Thompson. There would have been rioting in the StR streets.

More on the Blazers
Also from Blazers edge, a very nice recap on their finishing inventory. In a nutshell, they dealt Jack, McRoberts, Rush, Arthur, Dorsey and Taylor, and in return they received Bayless, Batum Diogu, and four future 2nd round picks.

Guh
So not only did they use their massive amount of picks to obtain higher caliber players, but they also stockpiled more picks to do it all over again?
Well played, sir . . . well played indeed.

They had a great night for sure.
But I think they should have kept Arthur rather than going for Batum personally.

Maybe
But they have a lot of guys up front, and they just lost James Jones. They could use some shooters, and that may be Batum.

I wouldn't have given up Dorsey
But I’m kinda dumb

Im from the BEdge
And I’d just like to complement you guys on how your handling your rebuilding process. When the Blazers fell apart us Pacific NWers (being the seasonally disaffected people we are) just sort of fell into a depressed funk and almost watched our team get sold/moved.
I gotta give you guys the credit you deserve, when the times get tough you lay out the burns, compared to us who just lay out and get sunburned just to feel happy!
Anyway, the big guy you got was the best available player for your needs, I mean it was either him or Robin Lopez. So good luck this season (with the exception of a few games) ;)

And good luck with your rookie of the year candidate(s)...(holding back anger, refusing to yield to bitterness…)

Yeah, we’re looking forward to losing to you guys in the Western Conference finals every year from 2011 to 2015.

As a Kings fan, I hate to say this,
But they’re right – as an outsider, that whole post is absolutely hilarious. Damn.

Do all the Chuck Norris jokes get replaced with Kevin Pritchard jokes??

Of course, it’s easy to be clever with your roster. Walk a mile-in-the-shoes-purchased-with-the-bloated-contract-of-Kenny-Thomas and then try to be funny.

Hi 214!
We over at the Bedge walked a few blocks, from strip club to strip club, in the pricey shoes of Z-Bo and Not-So-Hilarious Darius Miles, of course.
FYI: I have a soft spot for Beno, and even that insouciant Luis Scola, because they demonstrate that Popovich and the Spur brain trust might not be infallible. May Beno thrive and bury Tony Parker someday soon, preferably in the playoffs.
And in general, Go Kings, and may Artest take out at least one section of the Staples Center before you trade him (and do so, please, because he owns Roy!)

That's all the Kings related stuff I have for now...
...don’t mean to cruise your boards. One more thing: I was convinced then and am now that 2002 Game 6 was FIXED, a belief made permanent by a cocktail of one part L*ker hatred, one part admiration of the beautiful ball of that King team, and one part absolute distrust of Stern. To paraphrase a poster, TDarkstar or something, on one of the Bedge draft threads:
Stern announces trade: “to His Satanic Majesty the Devil, my immortal soul for an undisclosed amout of cash.”

I don’t really think that Pritchard screwed the Kings. To believe that one would have to know that Indiana would not have taken Bayless, who was the BPA, otherwise. Its less about Portland screwing us over and more about Larry Bird screwing us.
